Butter cake? I absolutely have to buy that. A shop from Biei is here for a limited time.

That's right.
While walking through Kichijoji Atre, I saw a poster with a picture that looked like a butter cake. It was an announcement for a limited-time shop.
Ah, I have errands to run right now, so I can't go looking for that shop.

I gave up and started walking again.
And on the way home,
"I'm forgetting something."
I pondered for a moment.
And then, I remembered the butter cake.

First, I went back to where the poster was posted to check the location of the shop. It was "La Terre," which had come all the way from Biei in Hokkaido.

The exterior briefly reminded me of a box of butter. It makes me so excited.

When you open the lid, it's even more buttery. I love that stylish touch. A good butter cake makes you a captive. Its depth, its rich aroma—everything about it is a sophisticated flavor, isn't it?
When I was a child, my sense of taste wasn't fully developed, and more than anything, butter cake had a low status, and I was brainwashed into thinking that fresh cream was of a higher class.

Oh, I'm so glad.
That I grew up and was able to correct that.

Finally, the main item was revealed.
It looks exactly like butter, but there are vanilla beans here and there. My expectations are rising.

Let me show you a cross-section. The way multiple layers of different flavors overlap to create a single harmony is indescribably delicious.
The brown layer at the very bottom is relatively easy to separate, but in that case, it's also quite chic to eat it separately.
If you eat them separately, you can enjoy each flavor again.

As for the all-important buttercream...
It was rich, but not too heavy; it was truly a perfect balance. I've never been to Biei, but my son's friend lives there, so I often hear about the recent talk of overtourism.

Things might be difficult with everything going on, but I really hope they stay firmly rooted in that northern land and continue to make delicious butter cakes.
