Once I decided to quit my job, work became fun. - A record of the 180 days after deciding to resign
Good evening! This is Haruka.
I decided to quit my job in 180 days, and
before I knew it, only 52 days are left.
I have started a new individual project.
It is public relations work for a company
run by someone who has supported me since my previous job.
In order to help with their recruitment,
I intend to fully immerse myself in the values
of the representative who has taken care of me.
Not relying on the company's reputation,
but being needed as an individual,
and being able to give my own value to that person.
Recently, such opportunities have been increasing little by little,
and I feel happy every day.
The pain of continuing to work hard without a purpose
A little while after such an exciting day.
I learned that another person at my current job has gone on leave.
I have come to feel that my days are finite,
and while I think this week went by in a flash,
I also thought that continuing to work just hard without any purpose must truly be hell.
I also thought that.

Of course, what each person seeks in their work is different.
I think it is fine to treat work as just work and find fulfillment in your private life or other places.
In fact, the number of people choosing "quiet quitting" is increasing.
I think that is fine if it is the way of life that person has chosen.
But for me, if I am going to spend most of my remaining life working,
I want to make that time as enjoyable and as true to myself as possible.
I want to be my true self wherever I am,
and if possible, I want to be excited every day.
I hope that more people will feel this way.
Work is more fun than it was half a year ago.
Strangely enough, since I started the countdown,
the purpose of these past six months has become clear.
By deciding to quit in 180 days,
I started asking myself, what do I want to leave behind by then?
What do I want to finish doing?
What kind of person do I want to be when I graduate from here?
I started thinking about things like that.
Even though it's much harder than it was half a year ago,
I like who I am when I'm working now, and I enjoy it.
There are still more ideal ways to spend my time each day
than how I spend it now.
But I have a sense that I am getting closer to the person I want to be.

When the environment changes, people change.
People I have valued until now
have started to need me as an individual.
It's a slow process, but
I have also become someone who can give back to those people.
Even so,
It is precisely because I am in an organization where people with completely different backgrounds, cultures, and places of residence intersect
that I have been able to realize certain things.
Understanding that people are different.
Because I meet people who are different from me,
I can question my own assumptions.
Because I face the differences,
the values I want to cherish become clear.
And,
both myself and
the environment surrounding me look different.
I think this is one of the things I gained in my current environment.
That is why I am feeling lost about how to live 52 days from now.
Because I can see more options than before.
Where I work, who I interact with, and how I spend my time.
It is not just a binary choice between being a company employee or a freelancer.
What makes my heart move when I am doing it?
What can I give to whom to feel happy?
What kind of environment allows me to be myself?
I have started to think about such things.
Half a year ago, I never thought I would be worrying about things like this; I am happy.
When you are feeling frustrated with work,
"Should I quit, or should I continue?"
You want to find the answer in a hurry.
But what you really want to think about might be beyond those two choices.
How do I want to be?
How do I want to live?
It was precisely because I decided to quit my job that
I started to properly think about how to approach my work for the first time.
And before I knew it,
At the company I decided to leave,
I am enjoying my work more than I did six months ago.
52 days left.
I actually quite like this time where I am constantly asking myself, "How do I want to live?"
I hope today is a wonderful day for you as well.
Thank you for reading until the end!
