[Project Participation Entry] The Long-Awaited Stage Adaptation! #WeeklyShortShortNote
"I can do it, I can do it, I can do it..."
The opening day of the stage adaptation of a hugely popular Heisei-era shojo manga.
She gripped her trembling hands tightly in the wings, whispering a mantra to herself.
It was a work she had become a fan of because of her mother.
Naturally, she had watched the anime until she knew it by heart.
Admiring the protagonist's transformation scenes and the way she defeated villains, she had practiced the poses for her special moves in front of the mirror countless times.
To think that those days would become reality in such a way.
The opening bell rang.
She rotated her neck, wrists, and ankles in turn, then stood on tiptoe for a final adjustment.
Now, it was finally time for the real thing.
The opening theme, which she had heard hundreds, thousands of times since childhood, began to play.
Taking a deep breath, she looked toward the illuminated stage, her face already that of the protagonist herself.

"I can do it, I can do it, I can do it..."
When the stage adaptation of a hugely popular Heisei-era shojo manga was decided, he, having become the public relations representative, whispered a mantra to himself while re-reading his collaboration request.
The reason for his enthusiasm was that he himself was a huge fan of the fairy characters that appeared in the work.
The three monkey fairies who gave the protagonist her magical powers, and the cat fairy who was always sleeping but reliable when it counted.
When he first encountered them, he was too embarrassed to say he liked characters from a shojo manga.
That is precisely why, now that he could be involved in it as part of his job, his enthusiasm for this project was greater than anyone else's.
The destination was the place the protagonist would go alone when she hit a dead end.
Although it was not explicitly stated in the work, as someone from Tochigi, he recognized the vermilion pillars and the glittering gate that occasionally appeared in the background.
Besides, the visuals of the fairies—there was nowhere else it could be.
He took a deep breath and pressed the send button on the email with the project proposal attached.
Thank you for reading.
I have participated in this project.
To the organizers, thank you as always.
[Obverse] Theme: Tokimeki Toe Shoes
[Reverse] Theme: Sometimes Toshogu
~Postscript? Ruminations? Superfluous addition?~
[Afterword]
This time, I wrote one piece for both the obverse and reverse themes.
There are a lot of revivals of Showa to Heisei works lately, aren't there?
For someone of my generation, there are so many that hit home that I'm already full of holes.
Some works are being remade themselves, while others are returning as merchandise.
I often catch a glimpse of a nostalgic figure out of the corner of my eye and find myself doing a double-take...
If you happen to see someone acting suspiciously in town like that, please watch over them with a warm, indulgent gaze.
Thank you for reading until the end.
I look forward to seeing you again.
