◆Story

The 6 members who enrolled from Company A had VERSANT scores of 33, 33, 34, 38, 41, and 45, respectively, and all were at a beginner to low-intermediate level. Therefore, the 6 assigned consultants and the corporate sales team held a strategy meeting to identify the skills needed 6 months later, keeping in mind participation in lectures and discussions at an overseas business school.

・Vocabulary for listening to the latest topics
・Communication skills including self-introduction to introduce the company at mixers, etc.
・Practice for discussions based on business cases, etc.

Anticipating these, we ran a cycle in the latter half of the study period of output in lessons ⇒ feedback from native coaches ⇒ practice ⇒ output.

As preparation to enable these, in the first half of the study, we thoroughly practiced speaking on general business English conversation topics in parallel with solidifying the basics. As a result of the learning design with clear goals, we were able to achieve not only quantitative results in score improvement but also enhance practical skills.

◆Comment from Company A's HR Representative

I accompanied the program in Switzerland and observed the participants' English. Everyone seemed to be doing generally fine, and even the participant who seemed the most uncomfortable, although there were times when words didn't come out, was still able to communicate with the European attendees, so thanks to you, I think they were able to catch up quite well.
Since this was the first time you supported us starting this year, I'm sure it was difficult in many ways, but thank you for your support despite the various personalities of the students.
In Switzerland, they were able to communicate and converse with local Europeans and Americans, so thanks to you, I think they managed to get through it.
We hope to have your support for next year's program as well.

◆Comment from Mr. I's Assigned Consultant, Kyohei

Mr. I started with a VERSANT score of 33 and basic grammar, and it was a tough course leading up to his trip. In lessons with Japanese coaches, he focused on creating English sentences using the grammar he learned. In lessons with native coaches, he had discussions using easy articles, shifted to specialized articles once he got used to it, and finally did role-plays assuming local lectures. As a result of proceeding with his studies while concretely imagining practical situations, he successfully achieved his goal, and his VERSANT score rose to 45. He said, "I strongly felt that I became able to listen, and I was able to actively participate in discussions. During Q&A, when no one else was asking questions, I raised my hand and asked a question in front of everyone. I thought I couldn't demonstrate leadership because language was a barrier in English, but members from other countries told me, 'With your English ability, language won't be an obstacle,' which led to great confidence."
