I tried learning at Tech Camp AI College, and I was surprised by results beyond my expectations!!
~When a 60-year-old AI novice executes with the right knowledge, a different view emerges~
Hello, my name is Shinichiro Seo.
I am an ordinary old man who doesn't usually work with programming or AI.
I joined Tech Camp AI College on December 1, 2025, and started building apps in earnest.
Now, I am in my fourth month.
"Isn't AI for young people?"
"Programming at my age? It's too difficult, I can't do it..."
Honestly, I thought that way at first too.
However, once I jumped into "Tech Camp AI College"...
results that surprised even me were waiting for me.
Let me tell you first what those results beyond my expectations were.
It is that when I applied with the app I developed to the school contest,
believe it or not,
I received a big award called theGrand Prix that I never expected.
This time, I will tell you exactly how I became friends with AI and the "exciting experience" until I received the Grand Prix at the contest.
Self-introduction: The encounter between a hotel man and AI
I am 61 years old this year, past the age of 60.
I am a person from Hiroshima who usually works at a hotel front desk.
My speech might have a bit of Hiroshima dialect mixed in.
If it's hard to read, please forgive me.
Actually, when I was young, I worked as an industrial machine programmer.
But if you ask if I was doing heavy coding, that wasn't the case;
I had many business trips and was often adjusting machines on-site.
So, while I'd like to say "I'm fine with code!", that's not the case at all; rather, the progress of current IT technology is just too fast...
Honestly, I can't keep up with the current development environment and don't understand it at all.
In other words, I am a complete novice at AI, Web, etc.
Even so, if it contributes to creating apps, I suppose I still have a little bit of a feeling that creating code is interesting. (laughs)
Background of enrollment: When I was on bad terms with ChatGPT
The hotel I work for.
Actually, "reservation management is still all on paper".
Yes, I was writing and correcting reservations on paper with a pencil every day.
"This is no good, can't I somehow systemize it?"
"Couldn't I do something with AI?"
I thought that and tried various things with ChatGPT regarding hotel reservations,
but it didn't go well.
It would create programs for me, but
it couldn't create them as I thought.
I was so frustrated that I was complaining to ChatGPT through the screen,
"Why don't you understand what I'm saying!"
In the end, I'm done.
I won't rely on you anymore.
I was on such bad terms with ChatGPT that I said that (laughs).
Reason for enrollment: I want to do something about "paper reservation management"!
Even so, I want to do something about paper reservation management.
When I was worried, I encountered
Tech Camp AI College.
Betting on the desire to do something about it one last time,
I had a free consultation.
In the free consultation, they explained it kindly and clearly,
what I can learn,
what kind of courses there are,
how long the period is,
what kind of other people are taking the course,
and so on.
They also gave me various suggestions, and I became interested and
"Shall I try it one more time?"
I thought, so I decided immediately.
Having said that, they told me that a one-month trial is also fine,
so I didn't have much anxiety.
I think it is especially recommended for people who say,
I'm not very familiar with programming or AI, but I want to do Web production.
I want to make my own homepage,
how do you make an app?
Because the content is easy to understand even for an old man over 60 like me.
I saw the "AI App Development Course" at AI College
and scales fell from my eyes.
"AI is not just ChatGPT."
"You should use Claude!"
This discovery changed the fate of me and AI.
Claude remembers what I said properly,
and it wasn't a stopgap response,
my impression was "It's a solid guy."
I was happy with Claude Code, which creates code according to specifications,
and unlike before, I started talking to it every day,
like talking to a colleague at work.
When it goes well,
I say "Thank you~" to thank it,
and when there is a bug and it doesn't go well,
I became able to consult it, saying "I wonder why."
If I convey it as detailed and concretely as possible,
or take a screenshot to convey the phenomenon,
it responds more accurately.
It became a very reliable guy for me.
The encounter with a partner who understands what I want to do properly
is thanks to this course.
I can assert that this alone was worth taking the course.
Of course, Tech Camp AI College has an easy-to-understand course for Claude Code
(Claude Code)
. (laughs)I also learned how to give roles to AI,how to convey what I want it to do in Markdown, how to give detailed instructions, like "Can you not change this part?"
and how to give concrete and detailed instructions.
By the way,
it's not that ChatGPT is bad,
it's just that my way of doing things was bad until now.
I also realized that. (laughs)
I didn't even know that AI has strengths and weaknesses.
Result (Surprised by results beyond expectations!)
Rather than stuffing theory into my head first,
I think it was good that I moved my hands, saying "Wouldn't it be convenient if there was something like this!"
As a result of trial and error with the help of the latest AI, I managed to build
a "Hotel Todai Management System" for my hotel.
And...
Believe it or not, I was able to receive the "
Grand Prix
" at the school contest!I was so moved!!To be 60 years old and be so absorbed in making things, and to be able to produce the best results.
Truly, I am the most surprised by the results beyond my expectations.
The reaction of the hotel staff was surprised.
I also received comments like "Wow, that's amazing."
"I'm really looking forward to it"
regarding the screenshot function and smartphone linkage.
Especially when I said I won the Grand Prix,
when they said "Wow!!!",
I thought, that was good.
I also received comments like "When did you make it?"
It's true that Claude made it,
and I didn't really do anything.
What is the "Hotel Todai Management System" that won the Grand Prix
The Hotel Todai Management System I made
has only functions that are common everywhere.
But the points I was particular about were
efficiency and wanting to go beyond the ease of writing on paper.
With paper, you need to write on many pages,
and if there is a change, you have to review it and erase it with an eraser.
To say it in Hiroshima dialect,
"It's a pain."
But with a reservation system, consecutive nights are also easy.

If you press the reservation calendar from the dashboard in the figure above,
a calendar screen where you can make reservations appears.

You can see at a glance how long the reservation is even for guests staying consecutive nights,
and I also made it so you can see what the status is now by color.
Blue is payment completed, yellow is partially paid, red is unpaid,
gray is not checked in, and so on.

I made it so you can input just by taking a screenshot.
As shown in the image above, you enter reservation information from the input screen.
However, actually entering it is time-consuming, and
I felt that the convenience of paper could not be surpassed.
So, to surpass the convenience of paper, I thought of
"Can't AI input data from a screenshot?"
That was the idea.
During a TechCamp AI College webinar,
when I was watching and thinking,
"AI has so many interesting features,"
it occurred to me that
"Can't AI understand screenshots?"
In other words...
It's a feature where you take a screenshot of the site where reservations come in, paste it directly onto the screen with 'Ctrl+V', and each item (name, address, phone number, etc.) is entered without needing to type it on the keyboard.
I was surprised when I managed to do this.I thought, 'I can do anything now.'

I also think I've created some quite useful features, such as automatically setting cleaning dates, a parking space reservation function, and automatic aggregation.
TechCamp AI College Overview
Well then, I will also write about TechCamp AI College.
Although it varies depending on the contract period, it is a
"school where you can acquire practical AI and IT skills from scratch" for about 10,000 yen per month with unlimited learning.
AI app development, Dify, web production, AI agents, web writing...
There is a wealth of content that will make you want to try everything.
Everything looks interesting, and even I couldn't stop my curiosity. (lol)
I have summarized the features of TechCamp AI College here.

▼ I will introduce the AI College Regular Plan below.
Community atmosphere: The power of "friends" connected via Discord
Actually, I am the type who works quietly alone, but
"not working alone" is truly important.
There are often troublesome things or times when you feel like giving up.
That is why.
I felt like giving up quite often, though.
Communication and interaction all take place on Discord.
And since there are many mechanisms to maintain motivation,
I will introduce some of them as follows.
Morning/Daytime Activity: Since we all gather to work, our motivation doesn't flag.
Today's Output: By exposing your own progress, you get stimulated.
Anything Consultation Seminar: The peace of mind of being able to say "help me" when you are in trouble.
Posting on Discord, reading what other friends have posted,
having many items is also a good point.
And what I am looking at next is the "Side Job Dojo".
To participate in the Side Job Dojo,
① Initial required course
② Completion of a curriculum that matches your goals
There are conditions such as these, but
I think the mechanism that allows you to challenge yourself after solidifying your foundation is motivating.
Now that I have a little more confidence, I want to try this dojo next.
Webinar: The latest information that lets you see the future in 30 minutes
Webinars are frequently held at TechCamp AI College,
and these are also great.
The webinar time is compact, about 30 minutes.
But the content is interesting and useful!
Since they teach you the latest AI information one after another,
it should help you come up with new ideas.
Notifications come via Discord,
and since there is a notification in advance and another one on the day,
it's hard to say "I forgot~".
By the way, I will introduce some of the events that have taken place
Becoming a person who changes the world starting tomorrow: Introduction to AI promotion starting with Gemini 3
Is time for reading and summarizing no longer needed? Automating document creation with NoteBookLM
Useful for non-engineers! What is the true power of the evolved Claude Opus 4.5?
Techniques to grasp trends and create "empathy": Introduction to AI promotion starting with Grok 4.1
Gemini 3 era "MixBoard" utilization seminar: Generating ideal images through dialogue with AI
"AI Utilization Seminar": From playing games to creating and earning with AI
This was the webinar I listened to first.
"Becoming a person who changes the world starting tomorrow: An introduction to AI promotion starting with Gemini 3"
After hearing about how to use different AIs properly in this, I finally learned that AIs have their own strengths and weaknesses.
There is still a lot more, but I will leave it at this.
First time with the materials: I use them like a "dictionary"
After I roughly learned the courses I wanted to take,
I looked at the relevant sections bit by bit
to learn things I didn't understand, just like looking up a dictionary.
It is fine to do the course seriously from the beginning, but
since I prioritized using it,
I looked at the interesting parts that caught my attention.
Well, I think it is fine for everyone to study in a way that suits them.
Being able to do that is also a good point of this Tech Camp AI College.
It is also great that you can ask without hesitation if there is something you don't understand in the course.
And actually"Enjoyably creating what you want to create together with AI".
This experience led me to the Grand Prix.
It goes without saying that AI and Tech Camp AI College
were an environment where a selfish person like me could work without hesitation.
And
as a concrete way to maintain concentration,
what is also introduced in Tech Camp AI College is
the Pomodoro Technique.
I immediately adopted the method of concentrating for 20 minutes and resting for 5 minutes.
I think this rhythm was just right for an old guy like me.
[Request] It would be even better if this part was improved
Lastly, I will also mention what I would like to see improved at Tech Camp AI College.
I studied the WEB course and used the Pomodoro Technique to
take frequent breaks.
When I did that, I sometimes lost track of how far I had progressed in the WEB course.
I felt that if there was a bookmark-like feature, it would be easier to know where to continue next time.
Summary: To you who are about to take on the challenge
Tech Camp AI College values output.
I was able to learn not only technology but also the mindset of the Seven Principles.

Among these, I practiced Principle 1: Act immediately, and Principle 3: Verbalize it yourself.
AI is not scary. It is the best ally that you can ask anything without feeling embarrassed. It is a waste of time to worry about "not being young anymore" or "not having knowledge"! If you have time to worry, please consult AI and write even one line of code.
"Today is the youngest day of your life"
Why don't you take a peek at a new future with me?
