My son's excitement at the fossil museum
Yesterday, we went to visit a friend's house, and they took us to the
【Fossil Museum You Can Buy From TOKYO】
in the neighborhood.
They invited us saying, "I thought your son would like it," so all five of us went for a walk.
Since I had heard in advance that it was a shop that sells dinosaurs and fossils, I had imagined a place like a science lab.
However, the exterior of the shop looked just like a stylish clothing store. When we went inside, music was playing, the lighting was elaborate, and it had an atmosphere somewhat like a club.
In a good way, it was completely different from the shop I had imagined.
Inside the store, ammonites and dinosaur fossils were lined up, and most of them had price tags.
It was like a museum, yet a shop.
It was like a shop, yet a museum.
It was a very stylish and mysterious space.
My son is the type who wants to know everything about things he's interested in since he was little, and he also loves dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures.
Because of that, his eyes were sparkling from the moment he entered the store.
He would stop to look at the exhibits, read the descriptions, and whenever he had a question, he would immediately ask the staff.
Some items had price tags, while
"Please ask the staff for the price"
was written on others.
Then, my son started asking the staff one after another about the prices of the fossils he was curious about.
And he pointed to fossils of similar size and asked.
"Why is this one more expensive and this one cheaper?"
The staff explained it to him carefully.
My son was listening with a serious expression.
He wants to know not just the price, but the reason behind it.
I thought that was just like my son.
After listening to the explanation, my son nodded with satisfaction,
and with a grin,
"Mom, buy this for me."
Me: "Uh, no way." (laughs)
The dinosaur skull my son took a liking to had an outrageous price tag. (laughs)
The romance of 400 million years ago is charming, though.
Seeing, touching, and asking questions about real fossils.
It seemed he was able to satisfy his intellectual curiosity.
It was a fun outing.
