[Short-Short] A Story of Creation
Do you like myths?
Reading a grand story of creation fills one with a mysterious sensation.
For example, the Japanese myth, the 'Kojiki'.
It is said that when the world first began, there was neither heaven nor earth, and the universe was chaos. Eventually, light things rose from within it, heavy things sank, and heaven and earth were separated.
And then, the first three deities, the Three Creation Deities appeared there.
Please take a look at one scene from such a creation of the world.
There was a vast, vast void of space, where even time did not exist, stretching out endlessly.
There, there was no light, no sound, and nothing with form existed. Only chaos—neither liquid nor gas—filled that vast emptiness.
Yes, it was like a dense fog drifting in the deep sea, or a vast lake surface blurred by morning mist.
Within that chaos, a change arrived, slowly but surely.
Heavy things sank to the bottom, and light things rose quietly.
As if time were being rewound, slowly but steadily, what had been a single, inseparable mass began to divide into two.
It was like the moment in the pre-dawn light when the horizon and the sky are faintly separated.
And in that world where heaven and earth had just been separated, three shadows emerged, quietly yet radiating an undeniable presence.
These were the three deities who were the creators of this world.
They peered down at the world of chaos spreading out below them with quiet, yet curiosity-filled eyes.
One deity lightly inserted the staff of light they held into the chaos and slowly rotated it once.
And what do you know? The chaos, which until then had been merely amorphous, began to move as if it had a will of its own, swirling and transforming into the form of a universe where stars glittered.
The sight was exactly like the mixing of colors the moment paint is gently dripped into water mixed with ink.
The three deities looked at each other in silence and nodded deeply.
Words were unnecessary. Between them, there was a deep empathy that only those who understand everything can share.
Their work was finished with this.
The seeds of the beginning had been sown. All that remained was to wait for this newborn world to grow by its own power.
Before long, the three deities quietly vanished.
After they left, the world of chaos they had been peering into until just moments ago revealed its full form.
There, there were swirling galaxies, countless stars, and the appearance of a planet emitting a faint light that made one feel the breath of life.
The scene was inside a very ordinary glass that had been left all alone on some table.
Yes, this is a story of creation, belonging to someone, somewhere.
Perhaps, inside that glass right in front of you, a new universe is being born in secret, too.
