Looking Back on This Year
My heart has finally settled down after the shock of winning the Monoka Kingdom.
2023, this is my biggest news.
I restarted my note in July of this year.
I hadn't written for a while, about two years.
Just drawing illustrations occasionally.
Before that, I was drawing parenting manga.
Since I was originally a person who drew manga, I had somehow avoided writing only with text.
I didn't have the confidence.
However, I wanted someone to hear about the joy of my desk returning, so I took the plunge and wrote about it in July.
Then, there were people who read it,
and I started to think, 'Oh? Is it okay for me to write?'
That's how I returned to note and started reading note again.
I even found favorite writers and read every day.
My beloved Matsubokkuri-san wrote that the membership 'Writing Club' by Kotoba to Kokoku-san is fun, and I got excited thinking, 'What's that, what's that!?' and joined the 'Writing Club' on impulse. (I'm sorry for following you, Matsubokkuri-san. Please don't be put off...)
Then, Kotoba to Kokoku-san's articles were interesting, and they kept pushing me, saying it's okay to write.
I gradually started to remember the feelings of my youth (when I was drawing manga), when I lived on the premise of creating.
And then, the Monoka Kingdom was held.
Me: 'I heard there's a note M-1 coming up!'
Husband: 'Oh, are you entering?'
Me: 'I'm entering.'
I answered before he could finish.
It reminds me of the time I was submitting to manga awards.
I thought about what to write while washing dishes in the kitchen.
The water is cold.
When the cold season comes, I remember.
Father-in-law...
I still tear up now.
The story of my father-in-law and my sonI wrote it and won.
The crown is heavy, and it feels like it will fall if I don't support it with both hands.
However, I somehow thought that this was my father-in-law's power, and that the episode was a bit of a cheat.
I sent a LINE message to a friend I used to draw manga with in my student days.
Friend: 'You wrote about something that moved your heart, right?'
Me: 'Yeah.'
Friend: 'It's not a cheat.'
Me: 'I know that I can only throw straight pitches.'
Friend: 'Being able to throw a straight pitch is also a strength.'
She knows all the manga I drew in the past.
She told me that this expression of mine touches the heart honestly, whether in manga or writing.
I cried in the kitchen again.
I don't know why the tears come out.
Do I like it?
After all, do I like writing?
This year became the year I restarted writing.
My desk is back, and I'm somehow happy.
I hope I can write a lot more next year.
And I want to read a lot again, too.
Thank you to everyone who read my note this year.
I will go read many of yours.
I look forward to your continued support next year.
