Yellow Gray One-Color Exhibition
"You should sow seeds here."
The Yellow Gray child said.
The Yellow Gray child was inside the soil I bought at the home center.
I had always lived on the first floor of an east-facing apartment building.
Even though the sun only hit it well in the morning, five ready-built houses were constructed right in front of my room, blocking even that precious morning sunlight.
That's why, when it was decided I would move for work, I wouldn't budge on "It must face south!"
If possible, I wanted the second floor or higher, and a spacious area in front of the apartment.
My husband said, "You won't find a property that good," but it seems my obsession was stronger.
From the balcony of the south-facing room, I could see a field.
Rapeseed blossoms were blooming too.
That's right, I'll make flowers bloom on this balcony too.
I went to the home center and bought soil.
I put it in a planter, watered it, and then sniffed it a little.
The soil, which had been taken out of the bag and finally exposed to light, seemed to suddenly come to life after being bathed in water.
"It smells nice, doesn't it?"
A small child, about the size of a thumb, was sitting neatly on the edge of the planter.
"Hi, I'm a Yellow Gray child. I got separated from everyone else and ended up packed in a bag. I've finally made it out into the light, thank you."
Their fluffy hair reflected the warm light and swayed softly.
"Yellow Gray?"
Before feeling surprised, I felt a sense of nostalgia.
I had seen that fluffy hair somewhere before.
"Yes, Yellow Gray. I have a job making flowers bloom. I'm still a child because I've never made a flower bloom even once. I was worried I'd spend my whole life as a child, stuck in a bag."
Ah, I know Yellow Gray.
I saw a child with fluffy hair in my mother's field in Ibaraki, too.
"I want to make muscari, daffodils, and tulips bloom here," she said.
When my mother said that and was planning to turn part of her vegetable garden into a flower garden, Yellow Gray came and said,
"That's nice, I thought flowers would suit this garden too."
The child from back then appeared on my south-facing balcony.
"You should sow seeds here. By the way, have you decided what to plant?"
Yes, I have.
Sunflowers.
They suit your name perfectly, don't they?
When I showed them the sunflower seeds, they nodded with a smile and said, "Leave it to me!"
Saying that, they dove into the soil along with the seeds.
I'm sure they will become a full-fledged Yellow Gray on my balcony.
I sniffed the scent of the soil once more.

Ishino Asami-san!
I'm a few minutes past the deadline... *crying*
I'm so, so, so sorry!
But it was just too cute, and I really wanted to write it, so I'm sending this for my own satisfaction...!
I sowed the sunflower seeds I prepared as my "last remaining seeds."
Sprouts appeared in no time 🌱, and they invite me to the balcony every day.
I'm sure the Yellow Gray child will make beautiful sunflowers bloom. I'm looking forward to it!
