[Developmental Disabilities] Another Self-Introduction
Hello! I'm Hii-san.
I have already
introduced myself in my first article.
But!
This time, I will write again
about the traits I have.🙇🏻♀️
In a nutshell, I am a department store of developmental disabilities .
I have various conditions, almost as if I am trying to
complete a collection of developmental disabilities and related illnesses/disorders.
It might get a bit heavy, but
I would appreciate it if you could read until the end.🌷
● What are developmental disabilities in the first place?
Developmental disabilities is a general term for various traits.
Major developmental disabilities include
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
LD (Learning Disabilities)
and so on.
Some people have just one of these,
while others have a combination of several.

● The disabilities and illnesses I have
I will list the five disabilities and illnesses I have.
Before you read on, I want to let you know.
From here on, it is super long.
① ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
This is the main developmental disability I have.
In my case, it is mainly
prone to being impulsive
I have absolutely no attention span. I am incredibly inattentive.
Zero planning ability.
Easily distracted by immediate rewards
→ making me prone to scams or
tending to procrastinate on tasks I need to do.
These are some of my traits.
To put it in perspective,
it's like a car with broken brakes and the accelerator floored🚗³₃
.
If you keep the accelerator floored, you get tired quickly.
So, (especially before treatment),
at the end of the day,I would often be unable to move, as if I were deadvery frequently.
② ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
This is the secondary developmental disability I have.
I mainly have the following traits:
I can't read the room and often make comments that make things awkward
(and I don't even realize when it creates a scene).I extremely dislike doing things I'm not used to.
I am pointlessly perfectionistic. I only think in terms of 0% or 100%.
I lack imagination, especially the ability to imagine how others feel.
Because of this,
during elementary and middle school, I had
constant relationship troubles... How terrifying...😇
③ Dyslexia (Reading Disorder)
This is one of the LDs (Learning Disabilities) I mentioned at the beginning,
and it causes difficulties in reading text.
When I try to read any kind of text,
the letters move, blur, or glow, so
I am really, truly bad at reading books.

(The way it looks changes depending on the day)
☕️ As an aside...
Since I've seen things this way since I was little,
until I became an adult, I didn't evenquestion that letters blurring was normal.
𓂃𓈒 𓂂𓏸
Why do I, as someone with dyslexia,
continue to write on note?
In fact, because I have dyslexia, I discovered
how to write engaging note postsand I'd like to share that with you✍🏻
I have even received comments like this
from those who have read my work♪

④ APD (Auditory Processing Disorder)
When there are several people talking,
I can hear the voices as sounds, but
I end up in a state where I cannot make out what is being said.
At its worst, even in a one-on-one conversation,
there are times when I cannot hear
what the other person is saying at all.
Thanks to this trait,
pretending to listenhas become a skill I'm better at than anyone else!👏
⑤ Idiopathic Hypersomnia
Out of the five disabilities and conditions,
this was the first one to be discovered.
It is the only one that is not a developmental disability,
but it is said to be deeply related to developmental disabilities.
No matter how long I sleep at night,
during the day, I am hit by an intense sleepiness
that feels like being dragged into darkness 💤
I was so sleepy during the day that in high school,
I would sleep through every subject except P.E.lol
● Developmental "disability" is just a name
Everything listed so far is a trait I carry.
Wow... that's a long list lol

and look at some soothing illustrations🌱𓂃 𓈒𓏸
There are still other troublesome traits I haven't listed,
but I don'tdislikeany of them.
It is true that developmental disabilities
often lead to difficulties in living in society.
However, I don't believe they are disadvantages at all;
I simply think that a person's traits
are being labeled with the negative word
"disability."
When you really think about it, there are positive aspects too!
For example,
thanks to the impulsivity unique to ADHD,
I was able to suddenly decide to start this blog.
Also, because of the perfectionist traits of ASD,
I write my posts until I am satisfied with them
before sharing them with everyone,
so I have absolutely no regrets when I look back at them! ✌🏻
In other words...
rather than a "disability," aren't developmental disabilities actually individuality?
"It is precisely because I have a developmental disability that I am who I am today."
I can say that with my head held high.
✻*˸ꕤ*˸*⋆。✻*˸ꕤ*˸*⋆。✻*˸ꕤ*˸*⋆。
When talking about myself, developmental disability is
an essential part of who I am.
From here on out, I will continue to face my traits well
and get through this hard-mode life!
Thank you so, so much
for reading this far!
That's all from Hee-san ˙ᵕ˙ )ノ゙
