Travel U25✈️ 24-Hour Bullet Trip to Izumo🚶 (Part 1) - Camera and City Walking -
Hello everyone! This is Tatsuki.
This time, I would like to share the first part of my bullet trip to Izumo that I visited in early September.
By the way, to give you an idea of how "bullet" it was: I woke up at 4:00 AM, decided on my destination while heading to Haneda Airport, and booked my flight and accommodation. Yes, everything—destination, lodging, and meals—was finalized while I was on the move.
This is exactlyJAL orANA the form of using U25 discount air tickets that they idealize! I will summarize the trip while telling myself that.

This is a public transportation trip without using rental cars or taxis! Izumo has many rental bicycles, and while I thought I should have used them, I mostly walked, and only used a bicycle once🚲
Now, onto the main part💁♂️
② Trip details [Main part]
■Flight to Izumo (1/5)
Around noon the day before, I suddenly thought, "I want to travel."
Come to think of it, JAL is having a Skymate time sale from September to October...
-What is Skymate-
Available to "JAL Card members" aged 12 to 25 or "JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) members" who have registered their customer information.
It's a really hot deal for those under 25, making same-day flight tickets very affordable.
I once carried out a bullet "day trip" from Tokyo to "Koganezaki Furofushi Onsen" in Aomori, and this time, I also used a forced style of deciding the destination by train, preparing only my will the day before.
※ I will summarize that episode another time!✍️

Woke up at 4:00 AM. And boarded the train at 5:00 AM.
While heading to Haneda Airport, I narrowed down the candidates to the following three:
① Yamagata Prefecture
② Hokkaido (Hakodate)
③ Shimane Prefecture
・
・
・
It's Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine!!!!!!
From there, it was very fast. On the train, I bought a flight ticket to Izumo and booked accommodation using "HafH", which I register under the name of hotel savings.

Japan's gateway, Haneda Airport.
Where is everyone heading from here?✈️

And boarded the 9:25 AM flight to Izumo.
(I loosely listed the places I wanted to go until I boarded the plane✍️)

The forecast for this day was rain.
Tokyo was supposed to be cloudy, but it was a fierce sunny day with a high of 35 degrees Celsius...! I started my Izumo trip feeling like I have some kind of luck🚶
■ Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine (2/5)
There is adirect bus running from Izumo Airport to Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine.
The travel time is about 1 hour. It seems that roads can be crowded on weekends, sometimes taking 1.5 hours, so please be careful if you have any reservations...!
Since it departs and arrives according to the flight schedule, there is no worry about missing the connection!

Crossing golden rice fields and sandy rivers to Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine.
The color of the rice, unique to this time of year, is very lovely.

There are 3 stop spots as you approach Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine.
① Izumo Taisha-mae Station
② Seimon-mae (Main Gate)
③ Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine
You can go to Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine from any of them.
I like walking, so I headed to Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine from the first one, ①.

Right after getting off, one of Japan's oldest trains is on display, and
the retro atmosphere is just wonderful...

Then, after walking for about 10 minutes,
I finally arrived at my destination for this trip, "Izumo Taisha"📍
It was around 12:30 PM at this point.
I was so hungry that I decided to fill my stomach before visiting the shrine🚶

If you come to Izumo, you absolutely have to eat soba!
"Izumo Soba," which is also called one of Japan's three great soba dishes.
Others include Gunma's "Togakushi Soba" and Iwate's "Wanko Soba."
This time, I walked about 10 minutes from the Izumo Taisha Grand Torii gate to visit "Kaneya."
3 tiers, 4 tiers, or 5 tiers...
Among the choices for the number of soba tiers, I ordered the 3-tier Warigo Soba!
In this scorching heat, it was gone in an instant (maybe 5 tiers would have been fine, haha).
With my hunger satisfied, it was finally time for Izumo Taisha.

Once you enter the shrine grounds, you will encounter many rabbits.
The story of the "Hare of Inaba," recorded in the Kojiki and passed down through generations, tells of how Okuninushi-no-Okami met a rabbit that was suffering and skinless while he was on his way to the land of Inaba as an attendant to the gods, and how he treated and saved it.
As someone born in the Year of the Rabbit, I can't help but feel a connection...!
Rabbits with various expressions. It might be fun to look for your favorite one🐇

Passing through the bronze torii gate, you'll see the worship hall ahead.
And a massive Japanese flag fluttering in the corner of my eye...!

You can walk all the way around the main shrine building.
There are libraries and treasure houses. Many buildings have names. It is very fun to walk around while learning about how they are used, the meaning of each building, and their history.

Then, if you take a side path, you'll reach the Kagura-den.
This might be the place you imagine most when you think of Izumo Taisha!
A shimenawa (sacred straw rope) of a size I've never seen before...
I was curious about its length and weight.
Believe it or not,it is 13.6m long and weighs 5.2 tons!!!
You will be overwhelmed by its sheer size.
After walking around the rest of the Izumo Taisha grounds, I decided to head to my next location, "Inasa no Hama Beach"🚶
-----
So, that's it for this blog post✍️
Surprisingly, even after writing this much, only about 9 hours of the 24-hour trip have passed, so I still have about half a day of activity time left, haha.
In Part 2, I will summarize the places I visited after leaving Izumo Taisha.
In October, all the gods of Japan gather in Izumo, which is the only place in the country called "Kamiarizuki" (Month of the Gods).
(In other places, it is called Kannazuki, or Month Without Gods, because the gods are away🗓)
The solo blitz trip is still in its first half.
I would be happy if you could read the second half as well🙌
Your memories of Izumo, places you recommend I go next time, etc.,
I would also love to hear your thoughts after reading this.
See you next time👋
I would be very happy if you could leave a quick comment or your thoughts📝
I usually post about my city walks.
