Rereko's Family Episode 14: 'I Tried Talking to Kotata Calmly'
-Introduction-
This is a story from a few years ago. During the half year we didn't meet,
Mom developed dementia and needed diapers. Furthermore, my
two older brothers' developmental disabilities were discovered. How did Rereko face the problems of her parents' home
...! I'm drawing this based on the few notes I had left and my hazy memories. ( ´∀｀)ノ
Kotata has a very high sense of pride. When someone tells her what to do or points out her mistakes, she can sometimes
throw a tantrum.
She also threw a tantrum in episode 11 when the support division staff hit her with hard truths, but...
She does manage to suppress her emotions when the social worker or support division staff are actually there.
Thanks to drawing this manga, I realized that Kotata doesn't just lash out at everyone.
But since she lashes out at her family without restraint,
I was anxious about telling her herself that she has a developmental disability 💧(;´д｀)
I don't even know what mode I was in myself, but I remember speaking calmly and gently.
Upon hearing the words 'developmental disability,' Kotata didn't even look surprised.
'That makes sense, I can't tell my right from my left, after all.'
She said that, so I was truly surprised (´⊙ω⊙`)
And then, bow knots.
I remembered that when I was in kindergarten, I used to often tie the shoelaces for Kotata, who is seven years older than me.
I think I did it for her until I was in the lower grades of elementary school, thinking, 'Kotata, you can't even do this? It can't be helped, I guess~ lol'
Mathand such were completely beyond her, but when Kotata was in junior high, it was the
golden age of delinquents—the peak of the delinquent era—.
“Out of ten classes, seven were full of delinquents. The glass in the hallways was broken every single day.
So, even if you couldn't study, you could get good internal school grades just by behaving yourself ( ´∀｀)”
That’s what she said.
(Having heard this, I really didn't want to go on to junior high lol)
So, she got decent internal grades in junior high, and went to a high school where you could get in just by writing your name...

By the way, my eldest son Kojiji went to the same high school.
He attended the daytime part-time program for four years.
There was an industrial course and an art course, and both of them happily attended the art course for four years.
(Mom complained that the tuition was expensive)
My eldest sonKojiji started a manga clubwhichKotata also joined,and even served as presidentor something.
(Kojiji and Kotata are five years apart, so Kotata enrolled after Kojiji graduated)
Among the members of that manga club, M-san, who was Kojiji's junior and Kotata's senior, is still one of the few friends the two of them have.
Since they were able to meet friends whose relationships would last for decades, I think it was good that they went to that high school.

Still, she never told anyone in the family, or anyone at all, that she 'didn't know her left from her right', did she?

I wonder what she must have felt?
...I do wonder that, but since Rereko still finds Kotata difficult to deal with, I have never sat down and listened to her story in detail.
For now,
I remember feeling like we had taken a big step forward
when he said he would go to the free consultation without getting upset.
Maybe Kotata also felt like he had
taken a big step forwardthat day too—that's what I thought while writing this.
