TID Area Gourmet #21 - Lyon Etoile (Bakery)

We will be introducing gourmet spots around the Tokyo Institute of Design (tentative name, application for establishment pending), which is scheduled to open in April 2023!


Located exactly halfway between Hirai Station South Exit and the planned university construction site is the bakery "Lyon Etoile."

It is a popular bakery that always has a steady stream of customers no matter when you visit.

Inside the shop, there are over 50 types of bread lined up—a blissful space for bread lovers!

While you shop, you can even watch the bread being made!

The shop's recommendations are the homemade curry bread, salt roll, happy cream bread, and chocolate chip muffin!
The salt roll is very popular, and almost every customer who came in during our visit bought one.

This time, we purchased the staff-recommended homemade curry bread, happy cream bread, chocolate chip muffin, and bacon egg!

The homemade curry bread contains large chunks of vegetables, and the outside is crispy, making it very satisfying.

The happy cream bread is filled with plenty of creamy homemade custard!
As for why it is named "happy cream bread," it is because the sliced almonds on top are arranged to look like a four-leaf clover.

The chocolate chip muffin is made with chocolate dough and topped with chocolate chips; it is the #1 most popular muffin!

The bacon egg has a runny egg, is quite filling, and is definitely worth a repeat visit!

Since it was a warm, sunny spring day on the day of our visit, we enjoyed our food at Oshima Komatsugawa Park near the university construction site!

There are also 4 counter seats inside for eat-in, and they even offer complimentary coffee to those who purchase bread!

It seems like a great place for lunch, a snack on the way home from university, or picking up breakfast!
