[Messy Room] I finally got off my butt...! A record of my restart from poor health and a messy room life [Cleaning]
I have finally started cleaning up the "messy room" I've neglected for over 20 years...!
Hello, to those who are new here, and to those who aren't.
Today, I'm going to talk about something a little—no, actually, quite embarrassing.
The truth is...
I've been living in a "messy room" for a long time.
It's really, quite a serious case.
The kind you sometimes see on TV, where there's nowhere to step.
The reason it ended up this way is that my depression was severe, and my health was never good.
Even when I went to the hospital, they just told me to "rest," but I had to work to make a living.
I pushed myself to work, got exhausted, and when I got home, I was just barely able to lie down.
While I was doing that, cleaning and tidying up kept getting pushed to the back burner,
and before I knew it, over 20 years had passed... the inside of my house had become a "state where I didn't know what to do."
But, finally.
Truly, finally, my health has started to settle down little by little.
I took the plunge and quit my job, and now I've finally been able to start looking at things inside the house bit by bit.
"Maybe... I can do it now."
Thinking that, I finally—started cleaning!!!
The first step is the kitchen!
The reason it's the kitchen is that recently, my partner has, surprisingly... started cooking for me often!
Thankfully, even when I'm wiped out, they've started diligently making meals for me.
But every time, they tell me:
"Seriously, do something about under the sink!"
...Fair point.
Under the sink, the food containers are all mixed up, separated from their lids.
Detergents, seasonings, and things I want to take out are hard to find.
It was a daily occurrence to dump everything out and end up asking, "Where is that!?"

I got fired up and introduced some storage goods!
So, I took the plunge and bought a few storage items!
First, these two.
🔸Under-sink slide rack (purchased on Rakuten)
Price: 3,780 yen (tax included, free shipping)
It's a type where you can stand up seasonings and bottles, and no assembly is required! I could use it as soon as it arrived.

🔸Nitori Expandable Rack (Depth 30cm/40cm, White)
Price: From 1,790 yen (tax included, shipping not included)
This is a great item that fits perfectly under the sink and allows you to adjust the shelf height.

In addition to that, I also got some cupboard liners and storage cases from Seria.

(By the way, the Nitori in Kumamoto is incredibly crowded. The parking lot is like a battlefield. So this time, I ordered everything from Rakuten. The shipping wasn't that expensive, so it was a huge win for my physical energy too!)
Starting the big cleanup!
Now, when I finally opened the space under the sink...
Tupperware, detergents, sprays, mysterious bags, plastic wrap from who knows how many years ago, and so on.
When I took everything out and lined it up so that I couldn't even see the floor... I was honestly shocked (lol).

Even so, I checked each item one by one and got rid of what I didn't need.
I wiped away the dirt with alkaline electrolyzed water, and while I couldn't remove all the rust, I dried it thoroughly and laid down the liner.
And finally, it was time to install the rack!
The expandable rack required self-assembly, but no tools were needed—just a 10-yen coin was enough.
It took about 20 minutes to complete.
Before and After

It was a dramatic before and after.
The scattered Tupperware is now properly stored in its own place.
The detergents now have a 'designated seat,' making it easier to take them out and put them away!
On the other side of the sink, under the counter, there were a lot of things shoved in haphazardly, but
I was able to store all of those away with this cleanup as well.
From here on out, little by little.
This cleanup was just the 'first step'.
But it was also a very big step.
If it were the old me, I think I would have given up, thinking, 'It'll just get dirty again' or 'It's impossible anyway.'
But now, I want to make my life comfortable, even if it's just a little bit at a time.
I feel like as my home gets organized, my mind is gradually getting organized too.
Where should I clean next?
I would be very happy if you could support me ☺️
