Going to eat the last Tsukimi Burger of the year.
It is early October, and the lingering summer heat has finally subsided, giving way to a comfortable, autumn-like season.
On my way home from work at night, I catch sight of a giant Tsukimi Burger advertising poster displayed outside the McDonald's in front of the station.
"Oh, come to think of it, the Tsukimi Burger that started in September is ending soon, isn't it?"
...
...
...
Wait, wait, no way, is it really ending already!?
When was the last time I ate a Tsukimi Burger? Hmm? Was it over a week ago...?
Wait, wait, wait, wait, hold on!!
Usually, at this time of year, it wouldn't be strange for the Tsukimi Burger to end sales at any moment, so I want to savor that taste at least one more time... just one more time!!
...And so, as a self-proclaimed heavy user of the Tsukimi Burger, I headed out to McDonald's a few days later in search of what would likely be the last beloved Tsukimi Burger of the year.
* * *
The day has changed, and it is a rainy lunchtime.
Although the rain is light, the wind blows strongly at times, making my trousers wetter than I expected. Just as I started to regret coming out on a day like this, I arrived at my destination, the McDonald's in front of the station.
I usually take it out and eat at home, but I feel it would be a waste to carry a freshly made, warm burger through this rain, so I decided to eat inside since I'm here.
I sit at a random seat, place a mobile order, and wait for the items to be brought to my table.
This time, I ordered the orthodox "Tsukimi Burger," the "Kinako Mochi and Anko Tsukimi Pie," and a large size "McFry Potato."
This year's Tsukimi Burger lineup included three types: the new"Rich Fluffy Tsukimi"and the annual classics"Tsukimi Burger" and "Cheese Tsukimi", and as a heavy user, I naturally conquered all of them, but...
In the end, the most delicious one was, after all, the original"Tsukimi Burger".

Both the "Rich Fluffy" and the "Cheese Tsukimi" had a very strong cheese presence, and the flavors of the other ingredients didn't leave much of an impression...
It's like the cheese was canceling out the umami of the meat and bacon? That was a bit disappointing.
Therefore, this time too, I adorned the grand finale with the origin and the pinnacle: the original "Tsukimi Burger".
Next up, the "Kinako Mochi and Anko Tsukimi Pie".

This has also been renewed starting this year. While it only had two ingredients, "chunky red bean paste" and "mochi," until last year, this year "kinako cream" was newly added, allowing you to enjoy three flavors at once.
"I liked the previous Tsukimi Pie better..."
It seems there are voices saying things like that, but I think this year's version was pretty good in its own way.
However, in previous years, the Tsukimi Pie often sold out and ended sales around the end of September, but surprisingly, it was still available even after entering October this year.
I wonder if the traditional Tsukimi Pie without kinako was more popular after all...🤔
Well, I'm hoping for two types to be released simultaneously next year: one with kinako and one without!
Plus, a large size "McFry Potato."

Getting a large size to eat by myself was a bit getting carried away...
It's just that there was a coupon on the official app...
No, no, I finished it all properly!
I didn't order a drink, but when the staff member brought the items to my table, they actually included a paper cup of water as well.
I didn't expect to get water, so I'm grateful...!
I savored each item slowly, and by the time I finished eating, my rain-soaked trousers had dried, and the number of other customers in the store had increased.
...Alright, time to head out!
Thank you for the Tsukimi Burger again this year!
I'll be eating plenty more next year too!
My goal for next year is to eat more of the "Tsukimi Muffin", which is exclusive to the breakfast menu.
The McDonald's in front of the station that I always go to doesn't sell the "Tsukimi Muffin," so I have to go to another store about 400m further away to get it...
So, Tsukimi Burgers, I'll be waiting eagerly for you again next year!!
