Fujitsu Establishes New Company for "Blue Carbon" Business via Internal Entrepreneurship
December 3, 2024 Nihon Keizai Shimbun
Fujitsu has established a new company, BLUABLE, for its "blue carbon" business, which aims to achieve decarbonization by having seaweed absorb carbon dioxide (CO2).
BLUABLE will provide end-to-end services, from creating seaweed beds to measuring the CO2 absorbed and buried on the seafloor by seaweed, and applying for "J-Blue Credits" to certify the amount of CO2 absorbed. The seaweed bed creation kit allows for the creation of seaweed beds simply by dropping materials that seaweed easily attaches to into the ocean. The company aims to begin business negotiations starting in October 2025.
