Idle Ramblings.
〇 Meaningless Words
The quintessential example of a meaningless word is "Meryl Streep." I had such a hard time remembering it! She is a famous actor who has appeared in many movies. Even though I love her, I couldn't recall her name. I wondered what the origin of her name was, so I looked it up and found that Meryl means "shining" and Streep means "lake water." I forgot which language it's from, but it actually had a meaning. Ever since I learned that, I've been able to remember her name instantly.
The next thing I struggled with was a "tastevin." It's that cup-like thing used when wine tasting. I got one when I went to an all-you-can-drink tasting at a winery, and I use it at home to scoop rice. I scoop rice with the tastevin and transfer it to the pot, but every time I use it, I feel a bit fuzzy, thinking, "Who are you again?" After I searched online, learned the name, and memorized it, I felt much better.
Since I live alone, I cook rice in a small pot. Just the other day, I cooked the best rice of my life! It was silvery, glossy, and perfect! But since I just add water haphazardly, I can't replicate it... (tears). I want to eat it again!
What I'm feeling fuzzy about right now is "medicine names." Isopropylantipyrine, bromhexine, theophylline... they are all things I don't understand, and I'm having a hard time memorizing them! There are also names that sound very similar, like aminophylline and theophylline. I wonder if these actually have proper meanings? If I knew the meanings, memorizing them might be easier. Does anyone happen to know?
Yesterday, while I was eating breakfast with a sleepy face, I realized that the blood pressure medication I take every day had run out. I have to go to the hospital. But I have a manuscript that's due soon, and I don't want to go! But if I ask the pharmacist at the pharmacy, maybe I can understand the meaning of the medicine names? I'll try asking the pharmacist, who is an expert on medicine!
I rushed through my manuscript work, studied for my registered sales clerk exam, and wrote an article for note. In between, while being taught by Genra-san, I also updated my smartphone's OS. I finally finished and my stomach is growling, but I'm going to endure it and charge off to the hospital! After that, I'll charge off to the pharmacy!
The hospital was closed (tears). Even though the website said they had afternoon consultations, the sign at the hospital said they were closed in the afternoon. Why?? Of course, the pharmacy was closed too. I ended up making a meaningless trip (tears).
〇 Six Bees
This is about worker bees. I think it was honeybees. When worker bees are working, it seems that one out of every six will start to slack off. If you gather the bees that are slacking off, five will work and one will slack off. And even if you gather six bees that are all diligent, it seems that one slacker will appear again. I wonder if the human world is the same? When a certain number of people gather, does a slacker appear? Extending that, there are annoying people everywhere, right? I wonder if they aren't actually annoying people themselves, but are unconsciously playing the role of the annoying person??
At a large workplace (about 1,000 people) where I used to work, there was an annoying person in every department. The worst ones were called "crushers" because they would destroy their subordinates one after another. What would happen if you gathered those people in one place? Would they destroy each other? Or would they stop being annoying people? I want someone to experiment with this...
〇 Feeling Off
I'm feeling a bit ennui today. I'm not my usual self. Plus, my lower back feels dangerous. I have a feeling I might get a slipped disc... Why is that? Did I do something different than usual?
Come to think of it............
I slept in underwear last night, which is rare for me. Could the underwear be the cause??
I usually don't wear underwear. I wear them when I go out, but I'm commando when I'm indoors. However, I suddenly decided to wear them to bed last night. Could that be the reason for my poor condition??
I'm an adult and a sensible person, so I wear underwear when I go out, but I don't really understand the point of wearing them in the first place. Is underwear necessary?? I don't think I need it, do you??
Apparently, underwear became popular in Japan after a major fire at a department store during the Meiji era, where female staff in kimonos couldn't jump from the windows due to the shame of not wearing undergarments, leading to massive casualties. They lost their lives because they were too embarrassed to have their lower bodies seen. How tragic (tears).
In an emergency, I don't care if I'm seen!! My life is what matters!!
If anyone is knowledgeable about the significance of underwear, please do let me know☆
