Illustration Portfolio: 'Hay Cookie Pastry Chef Guinea Pig'

Request for an X (formerly Twitter) icon

I received a request from a friend for an illustration to use as an X (formerly Twitter) icon.
They sell 'heart-shaped hay cookies' for small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs online, and they wanted an illustration for their X icon to promote these cookies.

Combining the cookies with characters, hamsters, rabbits, dinosaurs, monsters, or original characters is fine

Illustration Ideas

I considered turning the hay cookies themselves into characters, but I thought an illustration combining the cookies with small animals like rabbits or guinea pigs that eat them would make it easier to visualize the nature of the product.
I was told that besides rabbits and guinea pigs, turtles can also eat the hay cookies, but I decided to combine the cookies with mammals like guinea pigs and hamsters, which are also featured on the product packaging.

Since there was a request to place the cookies subtly rather than in the center, I explored a balance where the animal is the main focus and the cookies are just a subtle addition.
Expanding on the image of snacks for small animals, I decided to illustrate a scene where an animal pastry chef is carrying freshly baked cookies.

At the time I came up with the idea, it was a hamster, not a guinea pig.
The client requested a guinea pig for the pastry chef role, so I changed it to a guinea pig.

Background

I placed the cookie shapes within the requested checkered background pattern.

When viewed as an icon, the heart shapes are barely visible.
They are subtle enough that they only become noticeable when you click on the account, creating a discreet effect.

Completion

The illustration was completed by combining the pastry chef guinea pig with the background.

I made the scarf color more vibrant to give a lively impression.
I made the tray stainless steel to convey the image of carrying freshly baked goods.
I positioned the character slightly to the right so that it would be centered when used as an icon.

The client was happy with both the pastry chef guinea pig and the background.
