080. It's a strange feeling that this generates power
Today, I played tennis and put it into practice right away.
Starting with short strokes, and then moving on to strokes.
During practice, the timing didn't quite match...
I tried vocalizing, but somehow... it doesn't improve immediately.
However, what was different from usual was the impression that my body movements became a bit sharper,
and the power of my stroke shots was completely different from usual... It felt like they wouldn't hit the net and would go over.
Our club has a distribution of 5% practice and 95% matches, so without even practicing serves,
we go straight into matches.
And so, I tried hitting a serve.
By vocalizing in the same way,
from the first game to about the third game, there were many double faults,
and the power of my serves was weak, so I couldn't hold serve, but
as Mr. Yoshida advised me,
when I switched to a spin-type serve and hit it,
I started to get into the zone, and the double faults after that decreased drastically.
It felt like the power of my serve and my vocalization were gradually becoming proportional (laughs).
Strokes and returns.
At first, perhaps because my long-standing defensive instincts kicked in,
the timing for returns didn't match,
but the timing gradually started to match, and I began to return them.
And then, I realized one thing.
Since it's a doubles match, we take turns returning,
so even while waiting, I watched my partner's return and
vocalized. Somehow.
Or, while waiting, I observed the returns and strokes of other people's matches and
vocalized.
It gradually improved.
Even if I wouldn't say it was sharp, the probability of my returns clearing the net
reached almost 100%. (Excluding side outs and baseline misses, though.)
And my return percentage is over 90%!
Stroke sensation.
During the match, I started to match the timing of my opponent's deep balls, short balls,
slow balls, and fast balls,
and I started to reliably clear the net.
Originally, my creed was top-spin, but
today, it changed to an almost flat (maybe natural spin?)
thick contact. Perhaps because of that, speed was added,
and the power increased?
Standing upright form.
When I realized it, I was playing tennis standing upright with a sloppy form,
without bending my knees and without keeping my racket up.
It's a strange feeling that this generates power.
*A brief comment from Tennis Zero
Click here for a video showing that you can hit even with an upright form.
It's not that an upright form is good, but even with an upright form, you can do it without any problems at all.
The speed and power will gradually increase.
