Which group has been the most talked about in the K-POP world this year?

If asked that, one could undoubtedly say it is this group.

That is (G)I-DLE!

Whenever (G)I-DLE makes a comeback, the entire K-POP world is sensationally shaken.

Today, I would like to introduce (G)I-DLE.

Since some of you may be learning about them for the first time, I will start with a brief introduction: they are a five-member girl group that debuted on May 2, 2018, with the mini-album "I am," and are signed to CUBE Entertainment.

When pronouncing the group name (G)I-DLE, the parentheses are omitted and it is read as "Idle," but in their Japanese activities, it is read as "G-Idle." The official fan club name is "Neverland." By the way, I am also a Neverland.

The members consist of Soyeon and Miyeon from South Korea, Yuqi from China, Shuhua from Taiwan, and Minnie from Thailand. Originally, Soojin from South Korea was also a member, but she withdrew in August 2021, and they have been active as five members since.

In this article, I would like to follow their further rapid progress from the release of "TOMBOY" in March of this year to the present.

On March 14, they released their 1st full album "I NEVER DIE," which reached number one on the iTunes Top Album charts in 24 regions worldwide and topped the K-POP Top Album charts in 11 regions globally!

The music video for the title track "TOMBOY" currently has 185.07 million views!

Amazing! It is a song packed with the coolness of these invincible women!

On April 27, Miyeon made her solo debut with the album "MY," which was a smash hit!

It is a refreshing song that feels good, featuring the beautiful and soaring singing voice of (G)I-DLE's visual member, Miyeon.

Starting on June 17, they held their first solo world tour, "2022 (G)I-DLE WORLD TOUR JUST ME ( )I-DLE," beginning in Seoul.

And on September 16 and 17, they held concerts in Japan!

On October 17, they released their 5th mini-album "I love." It reached number one on iTunes album charts in 40 regions worldwide, including France and New Zealand!

They made a comeback with bold visuals, with everyone sporting glamorous blonde hair and elegant dresses, like Marilyn Monroe.

On the afternoon of the 17th, a media showcase for (G)I-DLE's 5th mini-album "I LOVE" was held, and leader Soyeon said, "The album 'I LOVE' contains the meaning that I should be my true self, not the image that someone else wants, and that I will shed the fake appearance I don't want and show my unadorned true face."

(G)I-DLE, who stood up against the world's prejudices by proudly singing that they are who they are in "TOMBOY," have released a new song that talks about how to love your true self.

The title track "Nxde" expresses one's true self using the word "nude." Soyeon explained the intention behind the song title, saying, "Some people might feel that the word 'nude' is obscene or lewd, but it doesn't mean exposure; it means your true self. That is what 'nude' means to me."
