Towards Divorce from Moral Harassment / Self-Introduction
Nice to meet you.
I am a housewife in my 40s working a part-time job.
I have children in elementary and junior high school.
I have suffered from my husband's moral harassment for many years.
Verbal abuse, controlling behavior, attacking my family, ignoring me, and throwing things.
Every time this happened,
we would discuss divorce,
my husband would apologize while crying on his knees,
he would calm down,
and then the moral harassment would start all over again.
I have repeated this textbook pattern
more times than I can count.
Starting in April 2024, my husband began
a one-year job transfer away from home.
The physical distance
has finally opened my eyes
from the dependency I was in.
I have seriously decided to get a divorce.
I have chosen a lawyer and plan to sign the contract in two days.
Mediation will begin.
If it drags on,
I plan to move to another prefecture with my children
and live separately
when my husband returns next March.
By writing about what I have learned regarding divorce,
the many instances of moral harassment I have endured,
and the process of the divorce moving forward,
I hope to
help someone who is going through the same thing,
provide a reference,
or offer some encouragement.
To prevent my identity from being revealed,
I think some of the articles will be paid content.
Thank you for your support.
*Separation began in March.
