#184 | 3-Day Trip Part 2 | 4 AM, On the Road to Hakuba
Departed at 4 AM.
Packed some rice balls and sausages, and we were off.
The excitement starts from this very moment.
Eating a packed lunch in the car is
one of the joys of a family trip.
Even the usual food feels special just by changing the location.
For my son, buying snacks at the highway rest area
has become a highlight of the trip.
"Are we buying them here again this year?"
That kind of conversation comes up naturally.
We bought the same snacks here
last year, too.
The same scenery, the same topics.
For some reason, that makes me happy.
We heard there was less snow this year, but
it seems it started snowing on New Year's Day.
Expectations naturally rise.
It's a long journey, but as more familiar, nostalgic scenery appears,
"Ah, we're here"
I feel a little warmth in my chest.
As we got closer to Hakuba,
it started to snow.
Beyond the windshield,
a snowy landscape of big mountains.
IT'S HERE!!!!
I shouted in my heart.
Seeing this view really makes me
glad we came.
9 AM,
arrived at the pension where we'll be staying for two nights.

Unloaded our luggage,
and hurried to get ready.
Hopped on the shuttle bus,
and headed to the slopes.
Our destination is
Tsugaike Kogen.
This trip has only just begun.
Next up is finally
the moment we stood on the snow.
To be continued.
