No. 19 | 7 Habits Practice Journal | The Day I Realized What I Had Left Behind
At that day's practice session

Hello, this is Hao Papa.
Today, at a practice session hosted by the association, we had time to set our annual plans.
A phrase spoken by one of the participants struck a chord with me.
"There is something I left behind. It was my mother."
At that moment, I felt something shift within me as well.
Oh, I have left something behind too.
A hazy, uneasy time passed... and then, I suddenly realized.
It was my own business.
The difference between "important" and "cherishing"
Until now, I have prioritized organizational work and meeting the expectations of those around me.
That is not a bad thing, and it was necessary.
But before I knew it, what I wanted to do had been pushed to the back burner.
What I thought about at this practice session was not "what is important" among the many roles and goals I have,
but rather **"what I will cherish" in the coming year**.
I know what is "important" within myself. I understand it intellectually.
But "cherishing" something requires setting priorities, willpower, and choice.
The courage to trust your intuition
The feeling that resonated within me after hearing the shares of other participants.
It was closer to intuition than to reason.
In The 7 Habits, the expression "listening to the voice of conscience" appears, but
sometimes the heart reacts before logic does.
Not ignoring that small voice.
That might be the compass for not losing sight of myself.
Going back to pick up what I left behind
My top priority for the next fiscal year is
to advance my own business.
I have decided that.
Of course, my relationships with the organization and those around me are also important.
That is precisely why I believe that aligning my own axis will ultimately lead to a Win-Win.
The foundation for my annual plan is complete.
I will finish my vision map in January and incorporate it into my annual planner in February.
Then, I will build my team while seeking feedback from my supervisor.
A small action I can take tomorrow

If you also feel like you might have 'left something behind' right now,
writing it down on paper is one way to start.
'What do I truly want to value?'
'What have I been putting off?'
The answer might already be within you.
Invitation to the 7 Habits® Practice Group
For those who want to continue the practices I write about in this Note,
not alone, but together with peers.
We hold small group sessions to practice 'The 7 Habits' while bringing in our daily experiences.
It is okay if you are not doing it perfectly.
We value time where things get organized by speaking,
and perspectives are broadened by listening.
