Toward a 'Kinder World,' Even Just a Little
I felt, 'I was caught off guard. Dandadan is just too good😭 The potential of anime is truly amazing.'
Do you all have a 'special favorite episode' in a drama or anime? People often call them 'god-tier episodes.'
For me, that would include episode 37 of the anime 'Kingdom' (I cried my eyes out at General Ouki's cool death scene) and episode 8 of the drama 'Unnatural' (a god-tier episode where the supporting cast's performances really shine; especially the brilliant acting in Masataka Kubota's final tearful smile, which completely broke my tear ducts).
Now, episode 7 of 'Dandadan,' which I watched on Netflix, has been added to that list.
'Dandadan' is a work that is like a 'hodgepodge,' throwing 'occult,' 'romantic comedy,' 'battle,' and 'gag' all into one pot.
Usually, when you do this, the result is 'information overload,' making it impossible to control the whole thing, leading to a boring story. However, the creator of 'Dandadan,' Yukinobu Tatsu, completely clears that hurdle with his 'overwhelming drawing ability' and 'superb sense of balance and composition,' finishing it into an incredibly interesting work.
From the first episode, it throws in some pretty crude jokes, making you think, 'Oh, this manga leans toward being a gag manga,' and then suddenly, in episode 7, it brings in a 'super cruel and serious episode.'
The star of this episode is 'Acrobatic Sarasa.' She is a specter characterized by a long red dress and long, straight black hair.
I want you to watch it, so I will avoid detailed explanations, but the circumstances leading up to the birth of this 'specter' are so cruel and heartbreaking that it tears at your heart.
Furthermore, each and every depiction is done with such care that the waves of 'the desire to convey' shared by the creator, the animation studio (Science SARU), and the voice actors resonated deeply in my heart.
After watching it, I was stunned for a while, and at the same time, I had these thoughts.
As a parent with children, it was a truly heartbreaking story that tore at my heart.
Before the Organized Crime Exclusion Ordinance was enacted, I imagine things like this actually happened a lot.
I truly wish for a 'kinder world' where people who work hard are rewarded, or at least, where they are not isolated and can have a helping hand extended to them by the government or others.
Let's be the kind of people who don't overlook such 'tragedies that can happen to anyone nearby' and are ready to reach out.
Once again, I want to cherish my family.
I think it is a deep story that makes you think about many things, such as 'family' and 'public assistance,' when you watch it.
Finally, I will post one more video that I want you to watch.
I think you will feel that the comments from viewers abroad after watching it are warm, and that 'the feeling of caring for children and parents is universal.'
Please, by all means, watch episode 7 of 'Dandadan' (if possible, from episode 6). I strongly, strongly recommend it.
May a 'kinder world' spread, even if just a little💜
