It's okay not to be the best mom in Japan | My first note
Nice to meet you.
I'm Tekuteku, a working mom raising children.
Even though I'm a childcare worker,
raising my own children is just one wall after another.
Ideal parenting?
What's that? Does it even exist? That's the world I live in.
"I want kids soon, so I'm getting married at 16."
That's what I said when I was a child.
"My dream is to be the best mom in Japan."
That's what I said when I was a student.
Even though I collected picture books and got my childcare license for my future children,
I didn't actually start raising children until I was over 30.
And that was also
the beginning of an endless,
giant maze.
Now, I've finally been able to say,
"It's okay" just a little bit.
I don't have the luxury to laugh and say "Well, it's fine," but
at least I can say "It's okay" and move on to the next thing.
To all the moms and dads still struggling in the maze,
I wanted to tell you that if you go just a little further,
things will get a little easier, so
I started this note.
・Before birth, when I was so obsessed with work I almost had a premature delivery
・Nursery school days, when I developed heart disease and was repeatedly hospitalized
・Elementary school, when I worried about developmental traits
・Upper elementary grades, when I faced school non-attendance
・And now, in junior high school,
days where I'm starting to reclaim myself
while being chased by work and parenting
I will write about these things
slowly, in the order I remember them.
Oh yeah, that happens.
That was the case for us too.
I see, so that's a good way to think about it.
I would be happy if you could feel that way.
Reality doesn't change easily, but
even when nothing has changed,
there are moments when the scenery suddenly shifts.
I hope this can be a place where we can
witness those moments together.
My energy source is
sweets!
(Pancakes with lots of whipped cream!)
