A story about my wife, 6-inch boots, and Shibuya
Last week, I went on a date to Shibuya to buy my wife a pair of 6-inch boots.
The classic Timberland yellow boots (6-inch).
Opening that box after so long and catching the scent of the nubuck made me feel a bit nostalgic.
I like how choosing these boots feels like a 'change of seasons'.
28,000 yen before tax.
With prices rising everywhere,
I was a little surprised, thinking, 'Wait, the price of the 6-inch hasn't changed that much?'
It's been a while since I bought them, but the price isn't much different from my old memories.
Honestly, I thought they would be more expensive, so I felt like I got a good deal.
Well, they aren't cheap... but I was happy that they still 'feel like they've always been there'.

Come to think of it, the last pair I bought was the patchwork 6-inch model.
I believe it was a limited edition of 1,000 pairs.
They're falling apart now, but I still have them.
Even if the colors have faded and the stitching is coming undone, they're still good in their own way.
I like the 'history of things,' so even if they're tattered, that's totally fine by me.
If anything, I feel like my own time is etched into that 'worn-out look'.

After buying the boots, we wandered around Shibuya.
While eating pizza at Pizza Slice,
we did a little scouting at the nearby Disk Union.
As always, my wife waited for me quietly.
I know that's not something to be taken for granted.
It was a grateful and gentle time.
After that, we had a light snack at Shimon-ya,
Finally, we finished up with noodles at Yashima.
I wanted to say kelp udon and their famous crispy fried squid legs, but
they were sold out,
so we had the stick-style squid legs.
As always, top-notch.
Sitting at the quiet counter, I thought, 'Today was a good day, too.'

They have slightly different shapes, but both have that 'unchanging quality'.
Even as times change, the presence these shoes have remains steady.
Rugged, gentle, and fitting in anywhere.
I hope we can live our lives like that, too.
