We exhibited the AI-powered artwork 'Nature Self Portrait' at DESIGNART TOKYO 2024!

At DESIGNART TOKYO 2024, held at various locations throughout Tokyo from October 18th to October 27th, we hosted a digital art exhibition titled '
Env.art & Prototypes Exhibition - Beyond the Emotion - ', which focused on the theme of 'global environmental issues.' For more details on the exhibition, click
here. In this post, I would like to briefly introduce 'Nature Self Portrait,' an AI-powered piece created as one of the exhibits.

Nature Self Portrait

We are captivated by the beauty of nature viewed from a mountain peak. At the same time, we are threatened by the overwhelming power of nature, such as natural disasters. Nature is both a source of healing and a source of fear for humanity. It is an existence that embodies both of these emotions. Nature even holds sway over human life and death. Perhaps becoming indifferent to this nature is what leads to the greatest environmental destruction. By using AI technology to project an image of oneself in harmony with nature, this experimental art piece aims to provide an opportunity for people to face nature directly.

Finally, the generated image is saved as a video with effects, and by scanning the QR code displayed on the operation tablet, the participant can download the video as a souvenir.

For this exhibition, we created the piece with a forest theme, but by changing the prompts, it can be created with different themes as well.
Due to time constraints, we built this using an API-based system.
Therefore, there are costs incurred with each generation, and there are some aspects of the expression that could not be fully refined, but I believe it became something people could enjoy.
I am secretly planning to update it to a local generation system.

Our company plans to continue conducting research and content production utilizing AI.
