UD-LT2 Router Restart Cable
As of 2025, Tech Matsumoto is actively using the I-O DATA UD-LT2. It is reasonably priced, heat-resistant, and its remote management tools are ideal, making it suitable for use at solar power plants.
Countermeasures for Router Freezing
With the increase in camera shipments, we have been handling a significant number of routers, and we have occasionally encountered issues where communication becomes impossible.
・Communication is down even though the power is on,
・If it recovers by unplugging and replugging the AC adapter, it is likely that something inside the router has frozen.
Even though we have set the router to restart twice a day to prevent it from failing to catch the 4G signal...
While looking for a workaround, I found the "Router Restart Cable" below and tested it for a month.
When connected between the device and the AC adapter, it restarts every 24 hours from the moment it is connected.

Causes of Router Freezing
Since solar power plants are environments where electromagnetic noise is easily generated, please be mindful to keep the router unit, including its back, as far away from surrounding objects as possible.
Specifically:
・Avoid the back or immediate sides of PCS, distribution boards, and terminal boxes.
・In addition to keeping it as far away as possible from thick electrical cables,
・Please also be mindful to keep it 5–10 cm away from AC adapters and PoE devices inside the box housing the router.
Citation
Power electronics equipment such as inverters (PCS) and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) control power through the switching (on/off of voltage and current) of power semiconductors. However, the rapid changes in voltage and current that occur during switching are considered one of the causes of noise generation.
There are various causes for electromagnetic noise, but in product development, two patterns are common: cases generated by the use of electrical/electronic equipment within the device itself, and cases generated from electromagnetic fields created by current flowing through electrical wires or communication cables. Additionally, lightning discharges from lightning strikes are also a source of electromagnetic noise.
How to check the 4G communication status on-site
Sometimes the router is not frozen, but is simply unable to connect to 4G or the connection is unstable. To investigate the cause, please check the signal strength, etc., on-site.
Connect to the router UD-LT2 shipped by Tech Matsumoto.
Connect via Wi-Fi if using a smartphone, or via a wired connection if using a PC.
(Refer to the email sent at the time of delivery, which contains the router's IP address and login information.)
Check signal strength and RSRP/SINR values

When using a metal box, using an external antenna often improves the situation.

Be careful with communication at solar power plants
When I was working on remote monitoring equipment for PCS,
・Data from the power conditioner was partially missing, or
・Communication between the PCS and the monitoring device would fail once power generation started
In response to these inquiries,
★The issue was improved by moving the PCS communication cable away from electrical wires
★There were many cases where, upon checking the communication cable, it was found to be a non-shielded cable.
