I encountered a word I didn't know in the shampoo aisle.

Even though it was a 'nice to meet you,' I felt a sense of déjà vu.

It was 'that guy' I've known well for a long time 😨

Today's vague word is 'Payage'

The shampoo and conditioner I was using
were about to run out at the same time.

Since I was at it,
I thought I might try a different brand than before.

With that in mind,
I went to the shampoo aisle at the drugstore.

But there are so many types these days, aren't there?

As I compared the bottles one by one,
the words written on a sticker caught my eye 👀

'Payage'

Pa... paya? 😯

I couldn't help but freeze in the shampoo aisle.

When I looked it up, it was defined as
hair that sticks out shortly from the surface or part of the hair.
That thing that keeps popping up.

That's right.

It was that thing that my generation called 'Ahoge' (idiot hair). without even knowing it.

Before I knew it,
it had been renamed to a 'kira-kira' (flashy/trendy) name🤣

From 'Ahoge' to 'Payage'.

Showa Hanako feels like she's been told by a classmate she hasn't seen in a while,
'That's not what it's called anymore'.

As a woman in her late 40s, I'm already
lost when it comes to shampoo and conditioner due to changes in my hair quality.

I dye my gray hair, and
I use a hair iron because of my wavy hair, so
I'm also concerned about hair damage.

Choosing a shampoo is a more serious battle than it looks🤔

Is it really okay for Showa Hanako like me
to pick up a bottle that shines in pastel colors?

Feeling defeated,
I ended up putting the bottle back on the shelf and retreated.

Regrettable😨

I was still curious, so I bought it after all.😂

While I felt a little embarrassed by the pastel-colored bottle,
once I started using it, it was just regular shampoo and conditioner.

And just recently,
I successfully used it all the way to the end.👏

I have now moved on to a different brand.

The new bottle is a calm shade of blue.

It might just be my imagination, but
I feel like this current shampoo and conditioner makes my 'payage' (flyaways) less noticeable.

Sorry about that.

At my current age,
it seems a calm navy suits me better
than sparkly pastel colors.🤣
