Workshop: I tried brewing tea

Hello. I'm Tea, a Chiran tea brand producer.

On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, I had the opportunity to brew tea for the attendees of a smartphone class and special money seminar.

This was my first time serving tea, and seeing the customers' reactions was incredibly helpful. I received such valuable feedback, and I'm really glad I did it!

There were about 10 people in the smartphone class.
I was given some time to introduce myself before the workshop started, and I was so nervous that I couldn't speak well at all, but I honestly shared my passion for Chiran tea.

The classroom already had tea prepared, so we decided to do a comparison, and I was able to have them try my tea for their second cup onwards.

I brewed tea during the breaks in the workshop. Hearing people say it was delicious made me so happy.

After the smartphone class ended, we moved into a chat session. This time was truly the best.

When I went around asking, "Would you like a refill?"
someone suddenly said,
"Let me say a word about the tea." That person was a woman in her 70s who loves tea. It turns out she had come all the way from Minamikyushu City! (Minamikyushu City is where Chiran tea is produced!)

"First of all, the tea had cooled down a bit. Also, the tea is weak. I prefer it stronger."

She was right. I had prepared a kettle with temperature control for this day and set it to 70°C when brewing, but considering the time it took to serve, it wasn't being drunk immediately, so I should have set it to a slightly higher temperature! Also, the issue of it being too weak. Honestly, I prefer my tea strong. But I had been through a lot of trial and error for this day, and I was overthinking it, wondering if one tea bag per teapot was the safest bet. I see. I should just serve the tea I like and feel confident about! I honestly felt that way.

The person who gave me such serious advice was Yoshiko-san, and when I served her a second cup, she said it was delicious! She is an amazing person who runs her own business and is just incredibly powerful. She even offered to do a lucky color reading for me, which I gratefully accepted.

The result of the reading was that my lucky colors are

Green, Gold, Green

Are you serious? That's absolutely perfect. Actually, in my last post, I mentioned I was making business cards. I designed those cards with green and gold in mind.

The cloud in the upper right, which is colored like gold, is called a 'zuiun' (auspicious cloud), and it means 'a good omen' or 'the arrival of good fortune' 😊

Wow, that's a lucky color! Awesome! I feel like something good is going to happen. That's how I, Tee, took it in a positive way 😊

After Yoshiko-san, I went around serving tea and received some more advice! This was also really interesting!

The person who gave me advice was Tanimoto-san. She is also a woman in her 70s, and she actually came all the way from Satsumasendai City. People reading this might not know where Satsumasendai City is, but it takes over an hour one way by car from Kagoshima City. That's amazing. She was also a wonderful person; she runs an izakaya and was very elegant.

Talking to her, I really felt that 'tea is fascinating'!

Unlike Yoshiko-san, Tanimoto-san thought the first cup was delicious. She seems to love soft, light green tea, so she was surprised that the second cup was strong. It was a moment where I was reminded once again that everyone has different tastes.

After this, Tanimoto-san ended up really liking my Chiran tea, and she actually became the first person to purchase it at this commemorative workshop! Honestly, since it was my first time offering a tasting, I never thought anyone would buy it, so I was incredibly happy 😊

Being able to talk to so many different people through tea was so much fun, a great learning experience, and a wonderful time! What made me especially happy was that everyone said they loved tea. I really want to convey these words to the tea farmers. I want them to hear it.

Well, that's all for now! This ended up being incredibly long for a Tee article, haha.
