[Chat] Why I became a cram school teacher
Hello. This is Soto✨
I just got back from my part-time job, and since all my coworkers were wearing jackets, coats, and scarves, I thought, 'Is it already winter in the Northern Hemisphere?'
So, I'd like to talk about why I became a cram school teacher. It's a long story...
📚High School Days
After entering high school and starting to study a lot, when I thought, 'Maybe I can actually get into my first-choice university...!?', I suddenly started thinking about what would come after that.
Go to university for four years and then... get a job...?
Get a job, and then... work until retirement...?
When I thought about this, I became very anxious.
After all, I had known throughout my life that I wasn't suited for organizational behavior, and the future where that would continue for at least until I was 60 flashed before my eyes.
I stopped thinking about that for a moment and decided to just pass the university entrance exam for now.
💡University Days
During my first and second years of university, it was right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, so I spent my time playing games while my day-night cycle was reversed. And then came my third year.
The time to think came again. People who were quick off the mark had already started internships in the spring or summer, and I started to smell job hunting in the air around me.
Thinking about the future still made me feel uneasy. And I thought, 'Anything is fine, if I just earn money, I won't have to work,' so I spent my days learning about money through books and the internet.
⛅Days of Trial and Error
As I researched taxes, pensions, side jobs, and money matters for when you become a sole proprietor or a company president, I started to strongly feel that I want to be rich in the future.
Knowing that I couldn't get rich as a company employee, I started exploring businesses I could potentially do.
Reselling, audio editing, video editing, programming... I tried my hand at all of them, but they were all things I thought, 'This isn't quite right...', and I was at a loss.
However, I suddenly remembered my club activities in high school.
My advisor told me, 'Please teach the underclassmen how to study for the certification,' so I sat in the teacher's chair in the computer room and taught them. Also, at the club introduction event held every April, as the club president for two years, I stood in front of about 100 new students and thought about how to say something interesting while conveying the appeal of the club.
From these experiences, I realized that I don't mind speaking in front of people and I like teaching things.
It would be great if I could connect 'teaching things' to a business in the future, but since I wanted to practice teaching while also working a part-time job to supplement my living expenses after graduation,
So you chose the path of becoming a cram school teacher.
That was last year, in April 2024.
Because of this experience, I'm a bit knowledgeable about money matters and feel I'm better at teaching than the average person.
I'll be creating summary articles for money-related books too, so look forward to those.
That is the story of how I became a cram school teacher!
