Beyond the Night No. 12
It is that time of the week again, this is Tatsu with the 66th review. Amidst the 66-day writing challenge (a continuous posting project), today marks the 12th review session.
In the 10th session, I looked back on this summer,
and in the 11th, I looked back on the week when a certain section manager was absent.
Well, due to various circumstances, I ended up taking a walk at 2:00 AM yesterday. It couldn't be helped, but I am still sleepy. The night breeze felt pleasant, though.
In front of the station, there were young people playing music and their friends. People who seemed to be continuing a conversation after a drinking party. Someone walking in casual clothes, perhaps heading to a convenience store. There were more people than I expected.
Looking back, I was also familiar with the late hours during my student days. The darkness that felt scary when I was small. However, back then, I also felt as if that darkness was gently wrapping around me. It might have been the alcohol.
The night hides the persona we wear during the day. The mama at the gay bar I was taken to once said: don't bring up topics that remind people of their names or work, or the daytime.
Under the veil of night, we become no one, and we become free. For a brief moment, released from our ties, we drift on a calm sea. Or perhaps, that too, was just the alcohol.
Whether it is the power of the night or the power of alcohol, either way, we cling to it and drown. Remembering the past in the late-night breeze, I drift into a nostalgic slumber at 9:00 AM today.
I have become an adult of a decent age who declares things like, 'Staying up late makes the next day feel short, which I don't like.'
Good children should go to bed early and wake up early. Adults should do the same. But sometimes, drawn and swept away by the night, I drift through my notes again today.
