The Breath of Spring
The more spring breathes
the more I am tormented by the loneliness of the future
and I regret the time I spent
When the plum blossoms begin to swell
we are very busy
spinning our final moments together
taking photos of the scenery in moderation
cherishing the memories with friends
is this the last time we will all be together?
Every time I gather with my friends
the loneliness of the future crosses my mind
This loneliness is only temporary
new days will fill the void
The very fact that I felt this loneliness
makes me want to keep it locked in my heart
When the cherry blossoms begin to swell
the final farewell draws near
Under the dazzling clear sky
I was no longer a student
After the graduation ceremony ended
I shared drinks with my friends
and we went to karaoke, stumbling along
It was already 2:00 AM
A friend started singing 'March 9th'
the music and our youth flowed by
Clutching the last of my money
I arrived at the Umeda underground mall
At an izakaya with only counter seats
The taste of shochu sipped little by little
It always started at 2:30 in the afternoon
Letting loose and heading home on the last train
My wallet was completely empty
On the way back from Osaka to Kyoto
Pressing my flushed cheeks against the train window
I keep staring at the swaying city
Overflowing with foolishness and waste
That youth I still remember even now
So as not to get soaked in sentimentality
I grab the mic and start singing
My signature song, 'Guts da ze'
With my arms around my friends' shoulders
Swaying, singing, and making a ruckus
One hour until closing time
Still swaying with arms around each other, singing in a chorus
Hanging onto someone's shoulder
Sometimes I looked down
Just like welcoming the New Year
Interwoven with hope and loneliness
The feeling of leaping fades away
Only the loneliness grows
An hour spent shouting to deceive myself
The ice in the glass has long since melted
The phone rang out
The receiver was placed back quietly
The sky over Osaka was covered in the color of dawn
I stretched my back toward the sun
Continuing to swing my right arm, heavier than usual
I made my way home
A new morning, holding my head from a hangover
Walking by the nearby river to wake myself up
The plum blossoms have fallen and the cherry blossoms have bloomed
The more spring breathes, the more it breathes
My heart swells with the bright light of the future
Bidding farewell to the lingering attachment
I find that partings leave a deeper impression than meetings.
I think perhaps people meet only to part.
A once-in-a-lifetime encounter is like a prelude to a wonderful farewell.
The day before yesterday, I received a LINE message from my mother.
It was accompanied by a photo of plum blossoms with their buds opened.
Plum blossoms feel like an opening act for the cherry blossoms.
The plum is the first to announce the arrival of spring,
and the cherry blossoms take over the spring from there.
Pine, bamboo, and plum; the perfect balance.
It truly plays a seasoned, understated role.
Its flower language is 'loyalty' and 'nobility'.
Even without standing out, it faithfully announces spring.
With noble qualities, it survives the cold winter nights.
Even if I am not a popular figure like the cherry blossom,
I want to bloom faithfully and nobly.
Just like those days that were hard to leave behind,
like the plum blossoms I saw,
so that I may welcome a wonderful farewell.
This week, I participated in Toraneko-san's invitation to become a literary master.
The theme was 'The Breath of Spring'.
The sunlight at the arrival of spring feels more sparkling than usual.
It's as if it illuminates even the asphalt with warmth. Perhaps the way things look changes with the long-awaited warm sunlight.
Plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, and all sorts of nature and living things are beginning to stir.
The flow of spring is truly something wonderful. Cherry blossom viewing, cherry blossom viewing.
Wishing everyone a wonderful spring.
Congratulations to those who are graduating.
