Episode 6
Zoro is near death after being slashed by Mihawk and is being carried.
Luffy returns to the Baratie to seek help.
Surprisingly, Sanji (without knowing it was Zoro) steps in to help!
I never expected Sanji to act for Zoro's sake!!
The title skull for this episode is Sanji.
Is this finally the episode that dives deep into Sanji and Zeff!?
It is Zeff who treats Zoro's wounds.
He shows off his sailor knowledge, stitching up Zoro's wounds,
placing fish skin on top, and wrapping it in bandages.
I never knew such a treatment existed!?
As expected of the great pirate, Zeff the Red-Leg!
Luffy takes care of his beloved sword while worrying about Zoro.
Sanji prepares food while watching him.
The live-action Sanji has a cute smile and is handsome.
We haven't seen the silly Sanji yet,
the one whose eyes turn into hearts for Nami-swan,
but I wonder if we will see that kind of acting in the future... lol
Luffy is conflicted, wanting to do something for Zoro.
Seeing Luffy like that, Sanji teaches him the importance of a captain's decisiveness.
These words are passed down from Zeff,
and Sanji reveals that Zeff was once a pirate.
Here, the flashback of Sanji and Zeff, which brought tears to the whole world, finally begins.
Man, this scene is great even in live-action...
Hunger is truly 500 times harder than you can imagine.
I struggled with weight loss during my boxing days, but
not being able to eat when you want to
is truly painful...
Anyway, after 50 days of drifting,
I will skip over the cute, round-faced child Sanji,
who doesn't look like he's been drifting for 50 days.
・Liar Norland
Zeff tells Luffy to talk to the unconscious Zoro so he doesn't die.
He says it can be a story or a song.
So, the picture book Nami reads to Zoro as if talking to him
is none other than "Liar Norland".
It's a fairy tale that wouldn't be out of place here,
but to touch on the content of the Skypiea arc in the East Blue!
It's really stylish of the Hollywood One Piece to include such small details.
・Don't let anyone get in the way of your dreams
Nami directs harsh words at Luffy,
incorporating the anecdote of Norland, saying that leaders are sometimes forced to make tough decisions.
Nami blames Luffy for why he didn't stop Zoro.
Luffy tells her he won't get in the way of dreams.
Nami replies that everyone gives up on their dreams somewhere.
Luffy asks about her dream, saying there must be something
she cares about more than anything in the world.
To that, Nami only replies that not everyone can chase their dreams,
and leaves the room.
Luffy, who left home chasing only his dream,
Zoro, who ended up scattered for his dream,
and Nami, who had to abandon her dream...
Luffy will learn later why that happened,
but there is no doubt that the theme this time is "dreams".
I find it very moving that a theme that follows the royal road of Jump
is being directed by people in Hollywood.
The fact that the live-action adaptation was finally decided, took shape,
and the themes of ONE PIECE and Jump that we want to convey
are being expressed across borders to the whole world,
is a dream far greater than anything else.
However, Oda-sensei made it come true,
and I thought that even that is an important part of this ONE PIECE drama.
・Garp's character is quite serious
This work is also a story from the perspective of the secondary protagonist, Koby.
Garp is Koby's direct superior
and an important character who holds the key to the story's background.
He is quite serious, or rather, he has a very strong sense of self-reproach
regarding the fact that Luffy became a pirate.
Saying he raised him wrong, certainly,
he is saying to both Luffy and Ace, "Why didn't you listen to me!!!"
but I do think, did he have to be such a serious character!? lol
But maybe this is more realistic 😅
・Arlong, Chew, and Kuroobi appear at the Baratie.
I don't see Hatchan, but
I hope to meet him at Arlong Park.
The Arlong Pirates coming to the Baratie is a development not in the original work, so how will it turn out!?
Also, seeing them in live-action, are Fish-Men this scary!? lol 😱
Wait? Was the receptionist at the Baratie also a Fish-Man if you look closely!
I thought it was a weird hairstyle, but
it wasn't hair, it was like a fin lol
・Arlong and Zeff confront each other
Arlong goes on a rampage inside the Baratie.
Owner Zeff appears there.
Saying he is the owner of this shop,
his presence is unfazed even by a Fish-Man.
Zeff is truly the real deal. It suits him too well.
Whether it's Shanks or Zeff,
they are more real than the real thing lol. I wonder how they managed to cast such perfect actors.
Arlong shows off his dominance, saying he is the owner of the East Blue. He is as evil as in the original.
If you don't hand over the Straw Hat, the customers here
will become my menu.
He delivers a wicked line that I'd love to say.
Nami, who is still at the Baratie,
seems shaken when she discovers Arlong.
Is Nami going to be kidnapped after this!?
・A debt of a meal
Luffy is chased by the Arlong Pirates.
Arlong says he will destroy the shop if Luffy isn't handed over.
Nami, seeing this, rushes to Luffy and the others
and suggests they run away.
However, Luffy boasts that he won't run,
and on top of that, he will protect this shop.
Sanji asks why go that far?
Luffy just says, "They gave me food, didn't they?"
Luffy has a refreshing quality of being loyal to such debts
without making it feel like a burden.
・Is Arlong there?
Luffy walks out proudly from the front,
and behind him are Sanji and Usopp.
Oh, you're doing it, Usopp. You must have been scared.
Arlong says, "Is this the rumored pirate?"
I thought he would be a bigger guy.
This is important. Luffy is always
rumored to be a huge, dangerous guy,
which also happened in the Dressrosa arc, but
the gap of being a small, good-natured young man
is what captures people's hearts.
Like a delinquent doing something good,
thinking he's a huge, dangerous guy but
he's actually incredibly friendly, strong, and a good guy,
that gap is the best.
・Buggy captured by Fish-Men
Suddenly, the Fish-Men bring out a black bag, and when they open it,
there is Buggy the Clown's severed head!
The reason Arlong and the others were able to come to the Baratie is actually because
Buggy's "ear" was secretly tucked into Luffy's straw hat,
acting as a wiretap lol.
That's how they got here.
Just like Luffy swallowing the map,
I laughed at the scene thinking, "You can use the Bara Bara no Mi like that too!" lol
Even so, the Fish-Men swam through the sea
at a terrifying speed
to get to the Baratie,
but Buggy, you
were able to endure being in such a cheap bag lol
・Battle with Arlong begins!
Luffy provokes Arlong like a pirate, saying "Try fighting and taking it"
when Arlong tells him to hand over the map.
Seeing Zeff's prosthetic leg broken just like in the original,
Sanji's brilliant leg techniques shine as he gets enraged!
Here, I was able to see the Kuroobi vs. Sanji fight
that was shown in the commercial!
This is also good because it creates a future connection.
・Nami reveals her true colors
Finally, Nami switches sides to Arlong.
Wait, did Arlong and the others know Nami was at the Baratie?
There was a scene where she communicated via small Den Den Mushi,
maybe it was then?
Arlong, who tries to kill Luffy with a finishing blow,
is told by Nami, "He ate a Devil Fruit, let's leave it to the sea," and
Arlong-san, who obediently says "Hmph" and drops him into the sea, is cute lol.
Are you that obedient? lol
Of course, Luffy is a hammer and can't swim,
and just when I thought it was all over,
Sanji swims to save him.
In the original, Luffy hit Krieg with Gomu Gomu no Hammer and fell into the sea.
The Baratie sea battle, even if the form is different,
I like that they followed this kind of development.

defeated Krieg, who had countless weapons.
It's a cool scene, isn't it!
Sanji swimming to save Luffy
is actually something that happens in the next Arlong Park too, but
since the visuals would be the same, maybe it was cut?
I wanted to see his head stretching from underwater lol
・"Even if you have a dream, it's meaningless if you don't chase it"
Stubborn old man Zeff, who draws out Sanji's true feelings
and tries to make him do what he wants.
Sanji, who has the same dream as he did when he was looking for the All Blue.
Behind his too-clumsy words
was his certain love for Sanji.
・Luffy and Zoro become true "nakama".
Zoro is still in a coma.
Luffy is stunned, having been no match for Arlong.
His first defeat since leaving for the sea,
Nami's departure, losing the map,
his heart and confidence are completely broken.
Luffy talks to the sleeping Zoro,
I need you, Zoro...
...You talk too much, I can't sleep.
!!
Zoro was alive!
Luffy is happy.
Luffy respected Zoro, who chose to fight
for his dream and ambition.
Zoro tells Luffy that he will never leave him
and will follow him to the end.
The bond between the two who have made decisions for their dreams
is now firmly tied!!! Coming to this point,
hearing "Any complaints, Pirate King?"
was the best.
・Sanji joins!!
Before entering the Grand Line
and aiming for ONE PIECE,
Luffy decides to take Nami back.
As the Going Merry is about to set sail,
Sanji appears with a shy smile, asking "Are you hiring a cook?"
Luffy gladly welcomes him aboard, saying "Of course!!!"
Finally, Zeff sees Sanji off.
"Don't catch a cold."
...I was able to hear this line.
Sanji says goodbye, saying "Thank you for everything for all these years."
Even though they both held it in, the tears that inevitably
overflowed
showed the feelings of having been together for many years.
It moves me as well.
Although we couldn't see the dogeza (prostration),
this is Hollywood style, so it's fine.
The ship chases Nami,
but when Usopp asks what to do since they don't know where she went,
Luffy replies that someone knows.
There was Buggy's severed head in a bag lol.
When did he bring that along lol
Buggy really has a fated connection with Luffy, doesn't he lol
The fact that he unexpectedly holds the key
makes it understandable that he becomes a Yonko later lol
And so, Episode 6 ends!
Summary
Episode 6
had many elements like Sanji's flashback, the battle with Arlong,
and Nami's departure, but
above all, the themes of "dreams" and "decisions" were incorporated.
Luffy, who kept chasing his "dream" and went to sea,
Zoro, who was defeated in his "dream",
Nami, who had to give up her "dream".
The human drama born from these three as the axis.
Following Zoro, even Luffy
hits a wall, the greatest in the East Blue, Arlong, and is defeated.
As expected of the number one villain in this series,
Arlong shows off his presence.
However, even if they are about to be crushed, they have true nakama,
the Straw Hat Pirates reunite,
and Sanji joins to chase a new dream.
With each of their new decisions, the ship chases Nami
to Cocoyasi Village where Arlong is waiting!!
While enjoying elements not in the original,
I also have the feeling of, "Hmm! I wanted to see that part from the original properly!"
but the "live-action version" that exists between comics and reality
might be the best expression without being forced,
and there were scenes throughout that convinced me of that.
Especially Zeff's line to the near-death Zoro,
telling him to talk to him even if he's asleep,
is a mechanism that allows the words and actions of Nami and Luffy,
who later reveal their inner feelings, to enter smoothly without any discomfort.
I'm impressed that that's how they direct things in Hollywood,
and I want to keep watching this realistic ONE PIECE!
Also, Garp's obsession with Luffy
is already scary lol, he's too much of a crazy old man lol
Last 2 episodes! Still going!
