[Our Family's Food Education] Bountiful Harvest! ✶ Summer Vegetable Festival
We went as a family to experience harvesting summer vegetables♡
We could pick as much as we wanted to fill a large basket.
Cherry tomatoes, medium tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, zebra eggplant, bell peppers, shishito peppers, round okra, okra, and cucumbers.
Although there were quantity limits on some items,
in the vast field,
while observing the energetic vegetables and insects,
we had a great time!!

“Cucumbers are prickly, aren't they?”
“The eggplant is shiny!”
“A grasshopper!”
“I'm going to pick lots of okra!”
“The eggplant is striped!”
The children did their best in the heat. Their happy smiles were dazzling.
After the harvest,
we made pizza topped with the vegetables we picked.

My son was tired from the harvest and played, but
my daughter was full of curiosity!
She lined up the vegetables beautifully and happily turned the pizza while it baked.
“Delicious!!! I'm so happy it turned out well 😆” It tastes exceptional.
That the farmers work hard to grow them in the heat,
how vegetables grow,
the deliciousness of the vegetables I picked myself,
I hope they felt many things.
The first thing I made when we got home was a 'dashi'-style dish!

Cucumber, eggplant, round okra, nagaimo yam, shiso leaves, and myoga ginger.
I added bonito flakes, dried shrimp, honey-pickled plums, soy sauce, vinegar, all-purpose soup stock, and sesame oil by eye ◎
A nutritious meal that soaks into a body heated by the sun!
The kids ate it up heartily too ◎

So many vegetables harvested!
To make sure we eat them while they're delicious,
I'll do my best to cook them ◎
