Chapter 1: Where is 'Sense' Lost? — On the Accumulation of Unconscious 'Intentionality' —
Once, our senses
worked quietly before our thoughts.
Breathing, tension, posture, fatigue.
These are things
read without the mediation of words,
a quiet function that naturally corrects imbalances.
This function
is referred to〈inner sense〉here.
A hunch,
a good omen,
a premonition,
a gut feeling,
excitement,
a sign,
feeling a tailwind,
a bad feeling.
All of these
tend to be dismissed as superstitious expressions,
and in daily decision-making,
they are almost never consciously acknowledged.
Modern society〈judgment〉〈analysis〉〈optimization〉
—these
functions of thought
have been greatly developed.
Thought seeks standards outside of itself.
Correct answers, evaluation, efficiency.
Searching for these is not in itself a mistake.
Rather,
'trying to do well,'
'trying to be right,'
'trying not to make mistakes'
are
manifestations of sincerity.
That in itself
is not bad.
However,
when 〈judgment〉, 〈analysis〉, and 〈optimization〉 are always at the forefront,
〈inner sense〉 is covered by the waves of thought,
and its quiet function becomes difficult to see.
In the introduction,
I dared to express that what was lost was 'sense.'
But in reality,
it was not lost,
it just became difficult to see.
Therefore,
there is no need to regain it,
nor is it something to be newly acquired.
The moment you try to turn your consciousness toward your 〈inner sense〉,
intentionality is already born there.
Directing consciousness
Trying to understand
Trying to grasp
Each one of these
is an accumulation of unconsciousness through thought.
In this way, we
have layered covers upon ourselves,
making the quiet workings
even harder to see.
The accumulation of unconsciousness through thought,
unaware intervention.
We call such intentionality
the 'harmful thin paper'.
When the harmful thin paper accumulates,
changes appear in the body
in a specific order.
First, breathing changes.
Exhalation becomes prone to cutting off,
and breath becomes shallow and rapid.
Next, posture changes.
Supporting oneself with tension,
maintaining posture so as not to collapse.
As a result,
overall balance is lost.
Furthermore, the field of vision changes.
It fixes on a single point, making it difficult to see the whole.
Finally, the voice changes.
Resonance decreases,
and it begins to be squeezed out from the throat.
Knowing this order,
you realize that sensation is not something to be regained,
but something to be unraveled.
To unravel
is not to overwrite with effort.
It is to quietly let go of the
unaware intervention that has accumulated the harmful thin paper.
What is needed here
is another kind of thin paper.
The 'beneficial thin paper'.
The beneficial thin paper
is not for adding anything.
It is used temporarily as a minimum condition
to unravel the harmful thin paper,
and in the end,
even that is let go.
Sodo distinguishes
between these two.
The harmful thin paper covers sensation.
The beneficial thin paper unravels the cover.
Once you can make this distinction,
you will no longer need to blame yourself.
There is no need for spirit or willpower.
There is no need to 'change' or 'improve' anything.
Simply prepare the conditions for the excessively intrusive intentionality
to quietly unravel.
When the conditions are met,
subtle functions will become clear.
Breathing will naturally deepen,
posture will naturally settle,
and judgment will quietly stabilize.
This is not about adding force to move forward.
It is the sensation of the original flow
beginning to pass through once again.
This is precisely the return tothe 'inner sense'.
In the next chapter,
we will address breathing as the first sign where this veil tends to appear.
Breathing is not something to be 'fixed'.
It is the first indicator affected
when intentionality increases.
Finally,
just one thing.
The 'way of returning' covered in this seriesis what
we callDAN100™.
That is all for this time.
Sensation is not lost; it is merely covered by a thin sheet of paper. Therefore, do not try to regain it by force, but rather by unraveling it.
