My Shaved Ice Introduction: Eating Shaved Ice All Year Round
I absolutely love shaved ice. You might associate shaved ice with summer, but I eat it all year round. Recently, there are many specialty shaved ice shops, so it's wonderful to be able to eat it anytime.
I'd like to post about my favorite shops and the ones I found particularly delicious from the shaved ice I've eaten over the past year, as a sort of personal record.🍧
Hyomon Tocage (Iidabashi)
The shaved ice at this shop always looks amazing! It's one of the shops I visit often, and here is one that was particularly delicious and memorable.
I love figs, and this is a cocoa-based shaved ice, which is rare for a fig flavor. It's also topped with plenty of grapes. It was served as a Halloween shaved ice, and it looked great and tasted absolutely delicious.
Kobo Meguco (Nerima)
I like fruit-based shaved ice, and this shop has plenty of fruit options no matter what time of year you go. The bowls are cute, and it's perfect for photos! It's not too crowded, so you can eat with very little wait time.
It has plenty of watermelon pulp and lots of lychee agar, which is delicious. It also comes with salt, so you can change up the flavor.
I usually eat refreshing fruit-based shaved ice, but this one was a shock. The flavors of cherry, coffee, and peanut cream are all very rich, yet they match exquisitely and are truly delicious.
HACHIKU (Ikebukuro)
Since it's a fruit shop, they have a lot of fruit-based shaved ice. However, it's incredibly crowded on days they are open for dine-in, and it's hard to get a numbered ticket, so I often go on takeout days. Recently, the turnover rate for takeout has been excellent, so I can eat it with only about a 15-minute wait.
As you can see from the photo, it is topped with a massive amount of figs. There are also plenty inside. The price is quite reasonable for takeout, and this fig shaved ice was 1,350 yen. Other fruits are a little cheaper.
