Hello, I'm Hitomi Kumano!
I'm an around-40 mom raising my 3-year-old son (who has an ASD diagnosis and plenty of ADHD & DCD traits), struggling every day to find the 'motivation to move.'
Today, I'm finally going to talk about the behind-the-scenes of
“making LINE stickers” that finally passed the review.
The joy of passing the review👇
The completed stickers👇
What was happening behind the scenes...
💭LINE stickers? Once you get this far, you can just whip them up on your smartphone, right?
I want to slap my past self who thought that with all my might (lol).
There were countless “missions” waiting for me that were beyond imagination.
If there is anyone out there right now who is trying something and thinking, 'I can't do this anymore...',
I would be honored if you could read this article and find the courage to think, 'Well, at least I'm better off than this state!'😂
Mission 1: The wall of the paid Canva plan is too thick
To make the background transparent, I decided to try the paid plan of the design tool 'Canva'.
The background story is here👇
This is where the tragedy began.
✅️ A barrage of 'errors'
No matter how many times I tapped, it wouldn't proceed. I stared at my smartphone for several minutes, thinking, 'Why!? Does it hate me?'
✅️ Authentication code hell
Realizing I had forgotten the settings, I started the authentication mission. I had to redo it 5 or 6 times, ending up in the same 'repeat of history' I suffered through with Kindle before.
✅️ Updating credit card information
Since I have lived with a clean 'non-paying' style until now, even registering was a struggle.
Before I knew it, several hours had passed←
💭 I'll make them quickly, and by now I'll be a sticker millionaire~
I felt like slapping myself again for dreaming that dream.
I was filled with the urge to slap myself again.
Mission 2: ADHD traits in full swing! The labyrinth of background transparency
Having somehow finished the application, I went to 'background transparency' (the process of making the background transparent).
However, this is where my ADHD traits kicked in.
💬 Where is the background transparency button...?
No matter where I looked on the screen, I couldn't find it.
In the end, I cried for help to my reliable partner 'Charlie-sensei (ChatGPT)' and managed to find it.
I see, I have to select the image first.
Furthermore, I learned a shocking fact after painstakingly doing the transparency work one by one and uploading them.
/
You can make them transparent and upload them all at once!!
\
It took so much time for Jimmy-kun's (my son's) stickers, but for Kan-kun's, it was 'easy-peasy' and done.
Experience is important, isn't it (blank stare).
Mission 3: The jungle of LINE Creators Market
I thought I was ready to register, but I got lost again.
I can't log in!
As a smartphone user, I went back and forth until I finally realized I could access it from the "Sticker Maker" app.
Sudden English mission
I panicked, thinking, "I'm only selling in Japan, so why do I need an English description!?" Once again, I dumped the translation on Charlie-sensei.
Looking back now, maybe I didn't even need to enter it.
Mission 4: What are main images and tag images?
I didn't know how to set them up, and even though I had them ready, I could only choose from existing stickers, so I just went for it and finished.
It was a launch full of "just getting it done" vibes, but I managed to make it work.
The reason I still think "I want to make more"
Honestly, the moment I finished, I thought, "I'm never doing this again! I'm canceling!"
But then, looking at the wonderful LINE stickers that Sayuri-san enjoys making...
💭 Caramel Plan-kun's fluffy plushie is so cute... I really want to make more!!
And just like that, my creative drive started bubbling up...
I'm so fickle, aren't I? 😅
Currently, I'm working on stickers for Charlie-sensei and his forest friends!
This time, I'm taking on a masochistic challenge for myself: making all 32 stickers different patterns.
I plan to turn the animals I've drawn so far into stickers by editing them into plushie versions.
Eventually, I have dreams of making a "picture book" with these little guys (though that's a story for the distant future).
Next week's preview: Jimmy-kun's struggle diary
Well, next week, for the first time in a while, I'll be bringing you "Jimmy-kun's struggle diary".
Once again, a "horror piece" that makes this mom tremble has emerged... (sob).
Please look forward to it!
Do you all have any experiences where you "tried something out and it turned out to be unexpectedly difficult"? Please let me know in the comments!
