Trip to Kozushima, the Island Where Gods Gather [Travelogue Day 2]
This is a travelogue from my trip to Kozushima, one of the Izu Seven Islands, in August 2023.

Day 2: The Long-Awaited Akasaki Promenade
About Akasaki Promenade
This is a wooden promenade approximately 500 meters long, built along the Akasaki coast in the northern part of the island. From the promenade's observation deck, you can see the islands of the northern Izu archipelago, Mount Fuji, and the Southern Alps. In the summer, many children and tourists enjoy jumping into the water from the diving platforms installed along the promenade.
The swimming area, which makes use of a natural cove, is also a spot for snorkeling and diving, with plenty of fish such as spangled emperor.

Heading to Akasaki Promenade
It's a beautiful, clear day, perfect for the beach♪
After eating breakfast and changing into our swimwear, we set off immediately.
Our accommodation this time was the Yamashita Ryokan Annex, but for some reason, there is a bus stop right in front of the inn that isn't on the bus route map, and you can get on and off there for the bus terminal to Akasaki Promenade route.
It's incredibly convenient (^^♪
So, we took the bus from in front of the inn to Akasaki Promenade.
Arrived at Akasaki Promenade
I visited Akasaki Promenade once before with my wife before we were married.
It's been about 15 years, and it feels like it has been cleaned up, and there seem to be more places to rest.
Moved by the clarity of the sea
The sea is incredibly transparent, and you can see the seabed while walking along the promenade.
You can even see the fish (≧▽≦)
Started snorkeling right away

The famous diving board at Akasaki Promenade
At Akasaki Promenade, there are three diving boards at different heights that anyone can jump from freely.
You can jump from the two lower ones at any time, but you can only jump from the center of the bridge railing hanging over the sea in the photo above when the tide is high (apparently, if you jump at low tide, you'll hit the bottom...). Since it was low tide in the morning that day, we waited until the afternoon to jump.
I think the jump from the bridge railing is about 5 to 8 meters high, so I was surprised that my elementary school daughter jumped twice! (;^ω^)
All in all, it was such a fulfilling day that even after playing all day, it didn't feel like enough.
Sunset
We returned to our accommodation on the last bus and spent the rest of the day relaxing.
As we were relaxing, the sky began to glow, and the sunset was truly beautiful.
