💻 "Art of Emotion" drawn with Midjourney | Six emotional landscapes of vases, flower language, and poetry
The forms of emotion dwelling within a vase.
One emotion, one vase.
And, the flowers and words arranged within that vase.
We live our days swaying between "joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure."
However, deeper emotions—
"love and hate," "fear and reverence"—are also quietly lurking there, are they not?
In this article, with the theme of six emotions, I have created
art pieces that combine vase designs symbolizing each with flowers that carry specific flower language.Added as a finishing touch are
poetic words that gently nestle up to the emotions.
A landscape painting of the heart, woven with vases, flowers, and poetry.
Please, take a look while quietly entrusting your heart to them.
1. [Joy] ── "Promise in the Sunshine"

A single ray of light and laughter
left by spring on the windowsill
The swell of the vase is a mother's palm
The sunflower's face turns toward me
Like the promise we exchanged that day
Something unchanging remains here
Joy is
within my memories
swaying softly

2. [Anger] ── "Tearing Sky, Screaming Vase"

Red and black clash at the throat
A lightning pattern pierces the vase
The petals are blades—
What the thistle's thorns speak of is
a scream that reaches no one
The wind in the wilderness does not answer
Only the reverberations tear through the sky
My anger is
the word of a forgotten god

3. [Sorrow] -- "Prayer of the Sound of Rain"

Raindrops travel across the window
just like someone's tears
The gentian placed against the slender neck of the vase
quietly bows its head, saying nothing
The lamp's light is a distant memory
a stillness like that told by an old book
Sorrow is,
a letter closed
without ever being read by anyone

4. [Joy] -- "A Small Celebration on the Cafe Terrace"

The gerbera is laughing
The patterns on the vase are dancing too
A gaze across the table,
bouncing voices, light flying about
Everything is a celebration named today
Fragments of a trivial and beloved daily life
Joy is,
even if just for a moment,
the world forgiving me

5. [Love and Hate] -- "The two in the mirror"

Tracing the pattern,
red and blue swirls entangle,
and flowers bloom in the cracks of the vase
The dahlia was laughing--
it looked like tears,
and it also looked like flames
In the mirror, overlapping shadows,
which one is "love"
and which one is "hate"?
Even I
no longer know

6. [Fear] -- "In the Center of Silence"

Wrapped in the scent of white lilies,
the stone chapel holds its breath.
Words are carved into the jet-black vase,
and gold and silver shine like stars.
Not by fire,
but by prayer is the space illuminated.
What is fear--
it is when I
feel something greater than myself.

Emotions are things that cannot be seen with the eyes.
However, by dwelling within the shape of a vase, entrusting them to the color of a flower, and weaving them into the words of a poem,
they transform into something that can be felt as truly "being here."
Surely, within you too, there exists
joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure--
as well as the love and hate you show no one, and the fear that cannot be put into words.
May these be places where all those emotions are not denied,
but softly allowed to exist.
If, somewhere in your heart,
these works have gently touched you,
that is surely proof that the flower in the vase is blooming quietly today.
Summary
Hello. This is Butts.
As you might have guessed, this series of works was born from a thought that occurred to me while watching "Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc": "Wouldn't it be interesting if emotions had physical forms?"
Just as swordsmiths strike, heat, cool, and forge steel with their souls to create swords,
what shape would it take if emotions were poured into a ceramic vase?
What kind of landscape would emerge if flowers were arranged in it? That was the beginning of this fantasy.
In generating the illustrations with Midjourney, I was meticulous about adjusting the texture, composition, color, and art style to match the emotions.
For example, the "Anger" vase uses a distorted form and flame glaze to express roughness,
and in the "Fear" scene, I focused on lighting reminiscent of solemn religious paintings to express sanctity.
Regarding the poetry, rather than simply tracing the scenery, I have chosen my words while cherishing
how those emotions exist within a person and how they offer comfort.
If there is even one vase or flower that makes you, the reader, feel that it
resembles your own emotions in some way, I would be very happy.
