[Toyama Travelogue] A place with an exquisite balance of breathtaking scenery and "everyday yet extraordinary" moments
I received so much inspiration from my recent trip to Toyama.
Among all of it, the thing that occupied my thoughts the most was the realization that "the countryside is wonderful."
I stayed at "Minpaku Tanagokoro" during this trip.
Rice fields spread out around the inn, and it was a distance where you had to walk quite a bit just to get to a convenience store.
However, that inconvenience was actually a point that I found "wonderful."
The scenery spreading out before my eyes was nothing but rice fields.
Beyond that, there was a small river, and at night, fireflies would fly there, and I could hear the sounds of insects.
Since there are no clean rivers where fireflies live in Osaka city where I live, this Toyama trip was the first time in my life I had ever seen fireflies.
And, the surroundings were so quiet that I could hear the sounds of insects and the water flowing in the irrigation channels directly.
I can't have that kind of experience in Osaka, so even though I didn't go to a "major tourist spot," I feel like I was able to give my heart a real rest, and it was a very luxurious way to spend my time, having experiences I absolutely could not have in Osaka.
On the second day of the trip, I wanted to visit a major tourist spot, so I went to Unazuki Onsen in Toyama.
That said, a hot spring in the middle of summer seemed like it would be a form of penance, so I decided to ride the famous Kurobe Gorge Railway and go see the beautiful scenery of the Kurobe Gorge.
I hadn't done that much research, so my expectations weren't that high, but this trolley train made me love Toyama even more.
First of all, my biggest impression was, "Is the Kurobe Gorge really this beautiful?"
You can't get close to the river on the trolley train, but you can see various breathtaking spots while riding the train.

First, this beautiful emerald green.
Since the weather was nice that day, I was able to see the river very clearly.
It was so beautiful that every scene looked like a postcard.
I couldn't stop my hand from pressing the shutter.
And, when the trolley train moves along the tracks and goes through a tunnel, a very cool breeze blows inside the tunnel.
This isn't air conditioning, but natural wind passing through the tunnel.
For us riding the trolley train in this hot season, it was very comfortable, and when I thought about how this is the power of nature, I felt moved by how truly mysterious and wonderful it is.
Inspired by the nature of Toyama, I wanted to go see many more Japanese landscapes that I haven't seen yet.
If I can have my sensibilities stimulated this much in a single trip, I think there is so much to be gained from traveling.
Whether it's a popular tourist destination or an unknown hidden gem, there are surely encounters that you cannot know even if you spend your time at home.
Through this two-day trip, I wanted to go on more journeys.
For that reason, I thought I must work hard at my job on weekdays and build up the funds to go on trips.
I'll do my best. It is in travel that my growth lies.
