[Notes] My First MNP to Rakuten Mobile Part 2: Switching to a New Smartphone with MNP is a Great Deal!

In early October, I did an MNP for the first time and switched to Rakuten Mobile.

I chose option 2, MNP while buying a new smartphone.
The reason is that the battery on the smartphone I was using was draining quickly,
and I felt I needed to change models.

However, nowadays Softbank charges fees for model changes and data transfers.
It was free three years ago...
And while there used to be 0-yen model change options, they don't exist anymore.
Moreover, prices over 50,000 yen are standard, which is quite expensive!
I'm also a bit hesitant to buy used ones on Amazon or Mercari.

Looking at Rakuten Mobile's MNP,
if you buy a smartphone at the same time, you get an MNP transfer discount,
making the smartphone 22,000 yen cheaper. Well, this is the only way to go.

Originally, I wanted to switch from the major carrier Softbank to a budget SIM,
but I avoided it because MNP seemed like a hassle.
So, honestly,I wanted to do both: buy a new phone and do an MNP.

However, my biggest worry was whether I could properly transfer the data.
Last time I changed models at Softbank, they even did the data transfer for free.
Now, everything costs money.

Here,switching to Rakuten Mobile via MNP means
I have to do the data transfer myself.
It seems like a hassle... it seems difficult... what if it doesn't go well?
I had these inner conflicts, but the 22,000 yen discount outweighed the hassle!
I watched tons of YouTube videos and decided I could probably do it.

I chose a relatively cheap Sharp AQUOS smartphone.
55,900 yen became 33,900 yen with the 22,000 yen MNP transfer discount. This is cheap!
I don't need a high-end smartphone.
As long as the battery lasts and it works to a certain extent, that's fine.

The MNP was easy to do by following Rakuten Mobile's instructions.
However, for data transfer, some apps couldn't be transferred, and without knowing the cause,
it was tough having to reinstall apps manually.

Also, when you change smartphone brands, the usability changes significantly.
Since I had an Oppo before, it took quite a few days to get used to the AQUOS.
But now, the AQUOS is way better than the Oppo!!
The fingerprint authentication is especially amazing!!
Being a Sharp, the camera is also quite good.
I'm managing to use it comfortably.

However, it took a while for the smartphone to arrive,
and at that time, I thought I had made a mistake, so
next time, I will tell you about the best timing for MNP.
