Please Don't Tie Me Down (Short-Short) Part 2
This is takewoody.
The theme for the 7th 'Amano Writing Club' was'Please don't tie me down'.
I posted one the day before yesterday, but another idea popped up, so here is part 2.
◆Please don't tie me down (Short-Short) Part 2
(604 characters)
I like men.
That doesn't mean I go around having one romance after another.
Whether I have a boyfriend or not, one man is never enough for me.
Ever since I was old enough to know better, there have always been men around me.
That's why girls dislike me, and I have more male friends than female friends.
Because I'm like that, it's a problem when I get a boyfriend.
My boyfriend always gets jealous and tries to tie me down.
Every single one of my past boyfriends has been like that.
I should just be devoted to my boyfriend when I have one, but
I just can't do that.
I always need to be fawned over by men and be in a space where men are present.
That's why girls' groups, girls' nights out, or girls' trips are
completely foreign to me.
Conversely, it's easy for me to join a group of men.
From the outside, I might look like an eccentric woman.
And because I'm always surrounded by men,
it's common for me to develop romantic feelings.
However, even when I start dating someone, a boyfriend alone is not enough.
I always want to be talking to and surrounded by multiple men.
Is that why the men who become my boyfriends get jealous and want to tie me down?
I like you! Please go out with me.
I've been confessed to many times.
My answer when confessed to is always this:
'Please don't tie me down.'
Is that a yes or a no?
Every time, the man who confessed to me is confused.
Because I'm a woman who can't handle a relationship where I'm tied down.
That's why I probably can't get married.
Honeybees are a prime example of a polyandrous creature.
In the human world, it might be taboo.
Ah, if I'm reborn, I want to be a honeybee.
The End
◆Afterword
After seeing an image of a woman surrounded by men saying, "Please don't tie me up,"
this short-short story was born.
In the past, I definitely felt jealous of the girls I dated who had many male friends.
This was especially prominent when I was young and had little romantic experience.
It was more noticeable back when I was young and inexperienced in love.
Conversely, I have also been extremely restricted by partners.
While that was flattering in a way, it also became a cause for arguments...
Thinking back on it now, it's a nostalgic romance that makes me think, "We were so young" (laughs).
In love, being too restrictive becomes suffocating,
but being too free can also cause the romance to cool down.
Being too attentive is restrictive, but not being attentive enough leads to indifference.
Finding the right distance in a relationship is difficult, isn't it?
Oh, that's right, it seems Japan used to have a polygamous system in the past.
It seems that was a system to support a life of poverty.
Even today, if you look at the world,
there are still a small number of places with polygamy or polyandry.
These are also systems primarily for survival, depending on the ethnic group and so on.
Conversely, there are also countries where it is religiously prohibited.
Recently, regarding transgender issues, same-sex marriage, gender, love, and marriage,
I feel that perspectives have become much broader around the world.
When I looked up polyandry, honeybees immediately came up,
so the ending involved honeybees.
This time, too, I was able to write happily by using my full imagination.
I hope you enjoy this world of fantasy and fiction.
Thank you for reading until the end.
See you next time.
