An article that resonated with me.
I am taketake, a salaryman, saver, and investor.
Three pillars: 'Three-shift work x Asset management x Frugality'
I have been steadily maintaining these three pillars and am currently in the quasi-wealthy bracket.
The other day, I read an article that left a lasting impression on me.
A family of four living on fixed costs of about 150,000 to 160,000 yen per month.
With a net worth of 81 million yen and financial assets of about 66 million yen, it is calculated that a 4% rule would yield 2.64 million yen in unrealized gains.
That is approximately 2.1 million yen after taxes.
It comes to about 170,000 yen per month.
Since dividend income is 900,000 yen per year, the total is about 2.8 million yen.
Although not complete, I have reached a level where it is fully possible to downshift my main job and live.
'It's not about actively quitting work, but being able to choose freely at any time'
is how I position it.
I coach a certain sport for local children, but there is no monetary reward.
I also actively participate in prefectural activities for a certain sport.
Because there are no conflicts of interest, I enjoy connecting with society and people of various generations.
Having a place where I can shine without retirement and have a purpose in life is the greatest reward.
I have worked at three companies since graduating from university, and there is a phrase that everyone at every company, including my father who was a president of a group company of a prime-listed firm, said in unison.
'Employees don't work at all. Part-timers work much harder.' they said.
Why is that?
I think it is because they are binding people through the conflict of interest that is money.
Employees have higher salaries than part-timers. If they have a family, most of them probably have a mortgage.
There is no way they can have peace of mind.
In such a situation, can they be told to take responsibility and work with a sense of purpose just because they are paid a high salary?
I cannot.
Work comes with responsibility.
That is certainly true.
When you have financial leeway, you have peace of mind. It is precisely because you have that leeway that you can look around you.
That is why I think you can enjoy your work and your life.
See you later!
