A Recommendation for Escaping to the Future and Escaping to the Past

I was still around 30 years old.

At the time, I had started thinking about quitting my job and working as a freelancer.

A choice mixed with anxiety and hope.

Depending on the day, I would spend my time with an unstable state of mind, feeling excited one day and timid the next.

It was during that time that I had the opportunity to talk with a certain musician.

Asking a predecessor!

That person had been a musician (a sole proprietor) for over 20 years at the time, had never had their work dry up, and was someone whom everyone around them would unanimously describe asa person of great character.

Of course, the level of their performances and works goes without saying.
They are someone who composes songs for famous idol groups, and for the live performances and recordings of well-known groups, they have earned the immense trust of the leaders and are always being called upon.

That is precisely why I took the plunge and asked them.

Why is it that you have never run out of work for so many years?

I don't know, haha.

Did they take it as an unexpected and uncharacteristic question?
They laughed it off, saying, "I don't know about that!"

But my expression must have been cloudier than usual, because they immediately spoke to me like this.

You just have to give your all to what is right in front of you.

That is how they gently admonished me.

Is that obvious?

Depending on how you look at it, it might be a harmless phrase.

However, when you consider who said it and how they said it, it remains an unforgettable moment for me even now.

In fact, even after becoming a freelancer, there have been more than one or two occasions when I recalled this scene and these words when I was struggling.

As time has passed, looking at it again now

I apologize for tooting my own horn, but I recently posted an article about an interview with Yu Darvish, who is currently active in the WBC.

I personally resonated strongly with the following comment, so I wanted to write it down as a reminder.

These words clearly articulate the reason for the aforementioned "you have no choice but to give your all to what is right in front of you".

You don't know what will happen in the future, so don't worry about it.
Don't dwell on your failures.

Many people know this, and many have been told this. I am one of them.

So, at some point, I began to rephrase the advice of those who came before me in my own words.
That is...Escaping the future and escaping the past

You don't know what will happen in the future, so it's no use worrying about it.
It's no use dwelling on your failures.

Both of these phrases contain the negative or prohibitive word "no use" (or "don't").

Because of that, being told this makes you feel like you are doing something wrong.

So, as a result of rephrasing it positively...

Let's escape the future!
Let's escape the past!

That's what it became! Haha

If these words were to stand on their own, they wouldn't resonate with anyone at all, so I took this opportunity to write down the reasons why I always tell myself this.

You have no choice but to give your all to what is right in front of you

That is a piece of advice I once received, and in other words, a teaching I cherish.

Having rephrased it in my own words, I feel like I have been able to live with it for a long time, much like a long-married couple.

Let's escape to the future!
