Enjoying Country Life Meals | A Gentle Feast of Freshly Picked Corn and New Potatoes
Corn and new potatoes picked straight from the field this morning.
Grown with the power of nature without the use of pesticides, these vegetables had a gentle flavor.
Living in the countryside, I encounter this kind of 'joy of eating' every day.
While there may be less convenience, the richness of living alongside the seasons and nature is something you can only find here.
Today, I'd like to talk about meals in country life.
I will introduce a simple yet luxurious feast made with vegetables picked in the morning.
------------------------------------------------
When I go out to the field in the morning, the scent of the soil and the sound of the birds reach straight into my heart.
Harvesting corn. While the morning dew is still there, I wrap my hands around the plump ears and snap them off.
In that moment, a sweet aroma wafts up from beneath the husks.
They say corn is sweetest when picked in the morning.
And one more blessing from the field. The new potatoes I dug up in a hurry before the rainy season arrived are also boiled with their skins on and brought to the table, still steaming hot.
In the Takase household, we try to avoid using pesticides on our vegetables as much as possible.
Vegetables grown at nature's own pace, while finding a way to get along with the insects, are gentle on both the body and soul, and delicious.
For a snack, we have buttered potatoes and boiled corn.

And for dinner, potato croquettes!

Country life may not be flashy, but it truly has those 'delicious and fun' moments that soak deep into your body.
The taste of the season, just as it is. Today, I am once again savoring the happiness of being able to eat the whole thing.
May wonderful days continue from tomorrow on...
