Shinanoya

Shinanoya, the chicken shop in Gotanda that I frequent. This is not about a wine shop right now.
They butcher the meat themselves here, and it is delicious. When you go to the shop, there are bento boxes, yakitori, and other prepared dishes in the front, and if you go to the back, they sell raw meat. I think it is slightly cheaper and tastier than elsewhere.

What I often buy here are the special thigh meat and special breast meat. As for how the 'special' differs, it is just larger. So, if you ask me if it is tastier, I think it is tastier simply because it is larger.

I also get my usual spicy fried chicken and sous-vide breast meat here.

And when I go during lunchtime, I also buy bento boxes like the one in the photo. Currently, the teriyaki bowl, fried chicken bowl, and soboro (minced meat) bowl are 600 yen. The yakitori bowl is a bit more expensive. Also, the soboro bowl is almost always sold out; I guess production is limited.
It used to be a 500-yen wine coin, but that is the way of the times...

And the bento boxes here are bold. There are no token pickles or rolled omelets; it is just meat (though they used to include a rolled omelet). I like this kind of straightforward approach.

This is a teriyaki bowl, but there is a little piece of fried chicken tucked in the back right. I do not know if this is a complimentary extra or the default... I have never bought it during lunch hours; I often buy it at off-peak times.

Also, they sell bento boxes until near closing time in the evening, but regardless of lunch, there is a line in the evening too. I have known about this place for many years, but I have never once seen it without anyone waiting. I have seen about 20 people in line, though.

Anyway, it might not be super-duper top-tier, but it has first-class taste and popularity.

Oh right, there is also a Shinanoya+ nearby that has soup and such. This one is a bit closer to being a deli or a bento shop.

Epilogue:
When I bought one before noon for the first time, it came with a rolled omelet. I see, so when they run out of rolled omelets, they put in fried chicken instead...

Even at 11:20, there was a line of several people. It is good to see them thriving, with people buying large quantities of yakitori.

I was also able to buy the soboro bowl, which usually sells out immediately.
