What is a funnel? An overview of the mechanism that turns customers from "knowing" to "wanting" to "buying"
"I'm attracting customers, but I'm not making sales..." Do you know the reason for that?
You post on social media,
you write blog posts,
and customers are coming to see them.
Yet, your products aren't selling.
Have you ever experienced this?
Actually, this might be
because the
"pathway"between "attracting customers" and "selling"
is missing.
In this article, I will explain that pathway
using the concept of a "funnel"with diagrams.
First of all, what is a "funnel"?
A funnel is
the
series of stepsfrom when a customer learns about a productuntil they purchase it.
In English, it means
"funnel" (a tool for pouring liquids).
The reason it's called a funnel is that
many people enter at the beginning,
and as they progress through the stages,
the number of people narrows down,
which resembles a funnel.
For example, it looks like this.
1. Awareness (Knowing)
→ Learning of your existence through social media or blogs
2. Interest (Concern)
→ Thinking, "This person's information is useful"
3. Consideration (Comparison)
→ Thinking, "Maybe I should buy this person's product"
4. Purchase (Buying)
→ Actually purchasing the product
This entire flow
is the "funnel".
Why is a funnel important?
"Can't I just make a product page
and wait for it to sell?"
I thought the same thing at first.
But think about it.
If someone who doesn't know you yet suddenly lands on your
product page,
do you think they will say,
'I'll buy it!'?
…That's pretty difficult, isn't it?
People don't buy things from strangers
right away.
That is why you need to
intentionally design the stages of 'awareness → interest → consideration → purchase'
as a process.
This is the reason for building a funnel.
What happens when you turn a funnel into a 'system'?
The amazing thing about a funnel is that
you can automate this flow.
For example, you can create a system like this.
Step 1: Prepare a free bonus
→ Customer registers their email address
Step 2: Emails are sent automatically
→ Your knowledge and personality are conveyed
Step 3: Guide them to the sales page
→ They think, 'I want to buy from this person'
Step 4: Purchase
→ The product is sold
Once you set up this series of steps,
it will
continue to run automatically on its own.
Even while you are sleeping
or traveling,
customers will follow the path
from 'knowing' to 'buying'
at their own pace.
This is the true nature of
an 'automated sales system'.
To those who thought, 'This sounds difficult...'
After reading this far,
some of you might be thinking,
'I kind of get it, but can I really do this?'
Please rest assured.
When I first heard the word "funnel,"
I also thought,
"That's just marketing jargon,
it has nothing to do with me."
I thought.
But in fact,
