I tried using Ichitaro Pad
Ichitaro 2020 has been released.
Since it has become indispensable for my work, of course, I bought the upgrade version. Hehe, be prepared, because I'm going to use it to the fullest from now on.

I tried the book publishing process with Ichitaro
This time, what was released at the same time is "Ichitaro Pad" .
・Android version
・iOS version
Ichitaro has become a smartphone app!
Ichitaro can now be used on smartphones too!!
Recently, Ichitaro has been polishing its specialization for writers.
It has also recently strengthened its web novel writing features, and this smartphone app is a long-awaited release.
There is no way Ichitaro users wouldn't jump on this. So, I would like to write about my experience using it from a writer's perspective.
Good points
・Completely free
・Standard equipment includes not only dates but also novel symbols like ""……―― for shorthand input
・Very high accuracy for transcribing text from images
・No unnecessary settings required for linking with Ichitaro
・Voice input available
・Backups remain even if you delete memos
Although it is an app, it is completely free. Anyone can install it from the Google Store or Apple Store. You don't need to own Ichitaro.
Linking with Ichitaro was also easy, as it just uses Wi-Fi to scan a QR code, so there was no unnecessary hassle. Of course, you can also use it sufficiently as a notepad without linking it to Ichitaro.

The memo screen looks like this. It is very simple.
What you should pay attention to is that it comes with an input shorthand tool. Until now, these novel symbols were very difficult to use on smartphones. Symbols that most people had to register in their dictionaries can now be called up with a single tap.
This is quietly powerful. They get it. As expected.
Just this alone makes it feel like it's leading other notepad apps. As expected of Ichitaro, which is specialized for writers.

Also, it is possible to salvage deleted memos. Since it also comes with automatic backup, it is safer than writing in the submission form of a novel posting site.
There are surprisingly many, aren't there? Writers who type directly into the submission form! I was also one who typed directly into the submission form for a while!
My impression is that it simply provides the features to write novels stress-free while out and about.
It is a simple app specialized for writers.

The accuracy of transcribing text from images is also high. You can also specify the range from the captured screen.

It's like this. I tried it several times, and although there were some slight errors with English letters and Arabic numerals, it was generally able to capture them without any problems. It also automatically determines vertical and horizontal writing.
As expected, it was difficult if the handwriting wasn't neat. But, it mostly worked.
It might be convenient to capture the explanatory text on signs when visiting historical sites for research. It's hard to manage as an image, but it's easy to look back on if you save it in a notepad.
Points of concern
From here on are the parts that were lacking.
・Data exchange is one-way from smartphone to PC
・File sharing cannot be performed
・No voice input app is included
・Does not sync automatically
The sync settings between smartphone and PC are easy, and in fact, you can paste the contents of the notepad into Ichitaro with one touch. Being able to transfer the novel you wrote outside as is is strong.
However, data is only from smartphone to PC.
Unlike memo apps like Evernote, you cannot edit the contents of the memo on a PC or increase the number of memos themselves. Also, viewing or editing Ichitaro documents on a PC from a smartphone is not possible.
It is strictly a link that only pastes text written on a smartphone into Ichitaro.
Since it does not sync automatically, having to perform sharing operations on the smartphone side each time is also inconvenient as a memo app.
The link destination is also limited to Ichitaro 2020 (this is an Ichitaro tool, so it can't be helped)
What is disappointing is that there is no dedicated voice input app included.
You use the voice input that comes with the standard keyboard app. If you are using Google Japanese Input, it is Google Japanese Input's voice input.
I was a little interested...! lol
But, since you can use an input app that suits you, it can be seen as having flexibility. Some people might consider this a merit.
An app for writing novels on your smartphone
The shorthand input tool is attractive and I think it will increase smartphone writing speed.
It is also completely free and suitable for any user.
It is perfect for copying and pasting the novels you have written for online posting! It can also be linked with Ichitaro, which has enhanced proofreading features!
I thought it was a specialized writing tool that pursues simplicity.
