Weekly Short-Short Note: 'Calico Triple Axel'
The ice show performed by cats, which I was seeing for the first time, was nothing short of a masterpiece. Speed, jumps, spins—in every aspect, the intensity was incomparable to that of a human. Their expression was truly protean, ranging from wild, raw power to the innocence of a small animal, and even a bewitching quality that made one's throat purr.
The show finally reached its finale. As a spotlight suddenly hit the darkness, the figure of a calico cat striking a magnificent pose on the ice emerged, and the venue was enveloped in enthusiasm—it was Sharon. For some reason, I knew her name.
Then, her performance began. She was on a different level from the other cats, dancing on the ice as if hand-in-hand with an ice spirit. And when she let out a breath and entered the entry for her spin, I felt my tension and excitement reach their peak.
Many of the cats that performed were of a single color. The reason for this became clear when the only tabby cat appeared. On the rink, patterns inevitably stood out too much and distracted the audience.
However, when he landed a magnificent spin, that impression was overturned. While spinning, his two fur colors blended together to create a stunning hue.
Sharon. What kind of color would her beautiful coat of white, black, and reddish-brown create? I felt a sense of exhilaration, as if I were peeking at something forbidden. And then, on the quiet ice, she took off as if to ensnare every gaze in the venue...
Ouch!
I groaned softly. When I opened my eyes, my beloved cat Sharon was sitting by my pillow. After licking the paw she had used to punch me, she continued to look down at my face as if reproaching me.
It seems it was still too early for me to see it.

I am participating in a project by Nikaka Tahara.
I was a dog person for a long time, but since I started seeing a black-spotted cat at a fixed spot on my walking route, I've become quite a cat person. They're cute.
Nice to meet you!
